I’ve been using Free Spirit Specialist Advanced in 2.25 t.c. for the past 11 years, originally on the Dove and latterly the Upper Trent and Severn, absolutely love em.I think you will be more than pleased with the Hi S,s
Not the same rod I know but Free Spirit do produce excellent specialist rods 👍 👍
Deffo made the right choice..................sitting in torrential rain on slippery banks watching motionless tips as the river rises around your feet or a nice warm house and pie and chips...............no brainer, they’ll still be there when things get back to normal 👍 👍
I don’t consider myself to be “dragging them in kicking and screaming”
I’m using 2.25 TC through action rods and have the clutches on my reels set to give line, extra pressure is applied to the spool skirt in the event of the fish taking line.Ive used this set up for a fair few years and am happy...
Before the ESP I was using Sufix Camfusion in 15lb breaking strain, however the Sufix was discontinued so I started using the ESP but the only available b.s was 20lb,this is used in conjunction with 30lb PowerPro mainline, all a little OTT it may seem but the idea is to get the barbel on the bank...
I’ve been using the ESP Tungsten for a couple of seasons now, can’t fault it,doesn’t need straightening and the coating is really durable, great product 👍👍
I’ve got two isotopes on my rods, one near to the tip and the other mid way between the last but one and last ring, both are in shrink tube and whipped to the blank, easy on the eyes and works a treat 👍
You could do a lot worse than Burton Mutual, plenty of the Trent to go at and the Dove, although the Dove is not the river it once was.The BAA card is also good value, plenty of the middle Severn within striking distance, good luck 👍
I keep it as simple as possible, running lead,2-3ft coated braid link with the last half inch stripped back and a size 10 wide gape hook, plus a curved aligner on the hook and a 2 inch boom below the lead, works ok for me 👍
