    Big Cat sightings

On the news yesterday a Scottish chap specialises in releasing endangered species into the wild, such as Lynx, Scottish wild cats, water voles and the like. He is not licenced to do so, and obviously farmers are worried about their sheep. It is not therefore inconceivable that these big cats...

    Touch legering and rolling baits

Torrix 11ft 1.75 and 4000 fixed spool reel loaded to the brim. Can't see the point in persisting with a 'pin if you find it difficult to cast.

Thanks, I did think 1.25 was too light. As you say more medium action then with some good stopping power.low down. I use 10 lb rated line which is seemingly justified.

As Richard said the action is certainly progressive, imagine a very uprated Avon. Not the rod for shy bites, more of a tool for taming Barbel in a smaller snaggy river. Remember it's only 10.6 long so great for confined swims. Dave Mason described it as a rod that will stop anything in the...

As you know I have one, the IM6 blank has a lovely action well suited for the Teme and similar.

Yep I went there too, and survived ...just. :) . Probably fished Saltford Keynsham Chew etc too. Anyway I assume you are not 'Gas'...lived in Whitchurch Lane Hartcliffe, then family moved to Brislington, ended up in the sticks at Clutton, ran away and joined the RAF .😀

You are a lucky chap fishing there, the Wilsons did a series of vids there, you might like those. Dave was full time there, and John joined him until his passing. John you might have guessed is hero of mine, and many others too. Btw I am ex Bristol too, Brislington mainly, born next to the...

    Happy New Year and .....

I didn't really fish at all 2024 save for just three or so sessions which were uneventful. The keenness is still there but my local Warks Avon has been poor of late and I never once fished my local stretch that has given me so much sport in the past. Probably good to have a sabbatical of sorts...

    A Christmas Puzzle

In the rush to spend on stuff we don't really need, and probably already have spare a thought for so many who don't have much at this time of year... for those that have everything try sticking a few items in their local food banks. There is so much real poverty in this country and the sheer...

How much are you prepared to spend…

Being of an age when I can afford perhaps better gear, I find my years of having to be very prudent to be hard to shake off. I have new rods and reels still unused, preferring to use the older tackle. As blokes we seem to like 'stuff' be it cars , motor bikes, cameras, rods, reels, phones all...

How much are you prepared to spend…

Talking of motorcycles I have just helped son with the purchase of a new Honda CB125 ...it was delivered last week and straight off the delivery van I just had to hop on and make sure it was OK...I haven't ridden a bike for some 25 years but muscle memory kicked in and it all came back and the...
