Any thoughts on rod rings for a custom 11' torrix?

Graham, is using the high stand off minimas on his 2piece 13ft exclusive float rods. I think minimas are now the way forward. And will be more widely used by rod builders old and new.

Any thoughts on rod rings for a custom 11' torrix?

Yes Ralph, on my lighter 11ft torrix s and chimeras I have 1double then 6 single guides and tip. On my 12ft 2.5 torrix both butt and second are double legged then again 5 single and the tip. Even with anti frap tips the line can still catch and bend the guides, I've been using them for 2 years...

Any thoughts on rod rings for a custom 11' torrix?

Minimas all the way, as I've said in past posts, 30 percent lighter, braid and mono safe and stronger than most guides, all my torrix and chimeras have been built with the black shadow minimas, can't praise them enough really!

Hardy Conquest 4"x1" tri handled double ratchet centrepin reel

Hi Clive, got one already, but I'm still tempted,.... Quality trotting reel, top quality engineering! I'll sleep on it, but think it will be sold before I get up. Lol.

    Advice on new rods please?

No, I can assure you that they are nothing like carp rods. 2.25 torrixs are excellent rods. But no good for on the tidal trent with a few foot on.

    Horses for courses. Of course😏

    Advice on new rods please?

Yeah Huanzhou, at 12ft the torrix 2lb, isn't a patch on the 11ft. But jump up to 12ft 2.5lb and IMHO it's better than the chimera 3.

    FREE SPIRIT HI S 11ft Specialist 1lb " SOLD"

Allegedly, some Germans use the Hi s 1lb special, for stalking carp up to 30kg, so they can certainly handle great weights.

    Touch legering and rolling baits

Hi Julian mostly straight through, but if in open water I will use a flouro hooklink. You need to wind your braid on under taught pressure, this prevents bedding in. I'm lucky, I've got 80yds of garden and tie it to a tree then walk it on under pressure.

    Advice on new rods please?

I might be wrong but, I don't think Harrison did a "twin tip". I think it's just a case of both torrix 2lb and 1.75 tips, fit on the torrix 1. 75 butt....

    Advice on new rods please?

Hi Russ,. I think if you're only fishing the tidal occasionally, I would keep hold of your 2.75s. And go for the 2lb torrix in 11ft, they too would cover you for a few different scenarios. Like the c3s would also.

    Freespirit Tamer Power Float 15'

As soon as you create a fulcrum, with your opposing hand, your asking for trouble, even without a reel attached. Accolytes should come with an insurance option!

    Harrison 13ft SU 2piece

Your right about shifting unwanted weight Richard, at 161gramms, you would think it would suggest it being nose heavy. Still very light tho.
