    Not dead yet

I have just had over three weeks in bed floored by some virus. The nightmares were horrific and the illness was like I have never had before. I would have cashed in if someone offered me a tablet, it was that bad. Anti biotics made things worse and what saved the day was prescribed sleeping...

Well it would help the mood on here.😉

    Beaver reintroduction success.

But the Beavers give a dam, and a damn good one too. Water Park was a great unspoilt place before the Crap moved in....100lb Tench sessions, and all very affordable with SCAC , at least I was lucky to have the best of it at the time.

    Beaver reintroduction success.

I lived in South Cerney and worked Cirencester back in the 80s. I fished the Water Park and especially Bradleys Wick Water Ashton Keynes etc, Carp were rare back then and then came all the stocked fisheries with it becoming a carp haven. The local tackle dealers put up alongside the lakes and...

    Beaver reintroduction success.

I think to compare two groups of otters albeit in different rivers with one tame and the other wild is fanciful thinking. I can't imagine any Otter that had survived this long exhibits any hand fed traits. Yes I think you maybe guessing.😄

    Beaver reintroduction success.

Again I am at a loss as to this negatively regarding so called habitat destruction by Beaver...They in the scheme of things have been integral in developing a diverse healthy habitat not only for them but for a myriad of other species, fish frogs toads dragonfly voles in fact a huge amount of...

    Beaver reintroduction success.

The negative experience you have had is unfortunate. But it might be a cost to you however the theory in what good they do in creating upper river pools so minimising flooding downstream seems a pretty convincing argument in favour of them. These natures engineering superstars create many new...

    Unhooking mat or not?

As said how many of us yell at the telly after the presenter says to put him back asap and then holds it up for the umpteenth last look. The need for a selfie extended arms holding a moderate barbel to look like a record is very much a blight on our sport. Knobheads.

    Unhooking mat or not?

0 Jon you have described the exact process in faffing around that very much causes distress to such an oxygen dependant species. But you assume that all the belly up barbel are not what you do but other types of faffing around. Surely NOT taking the barbel onto a mat and keeping in the net in...

    Unhooking mat or not?

I haven't posted of late due to being laid up for 3 weeks with covid or whatever the latest import is...But have never felt so ill ...but on the mend. I was always the one to defend mats, but seeing how they are used no longer can. The main function it seems is to take the Barbel out of the net...

Ledgering upstream vs downstream pros and cons?

I found similar on such low stock rivers but bigger than average barbel to be expected, lone female fish who are not in competition to grab a morsel. The temptation to reel in is often too much to deny so your patience is to be admired. It's always good to hear your experiences hopefully this...

    Highly waterproof jacket recommendations

My Berghaus jacket had finally given up on the zip. So looking for new one. You might note I was ripped off by a spoof website offering North Face ...they took the money out of my bank today the crooks, they use a URL zhcartapps.com to form spoof websites and collect money though a HK based...

Day ticket waters or club ticket when traveling long distance and limited days per year?

Shame the Brìstol Avon is not what it used to be, but what rivers are? However Bristol Almagamated have some nice waters and Chippenham AA too. The latter has Peckingell and Langley Burrell which to me cannot be bettered for typical river angling. Not too far either. Have you fished the Tone...

    Xmas pressy

Cliff. Yep looking at it a possible scam, I have contacted bank and debit card cancelled. The payment is still to be claimed by 'retailer' and if they do and it is a scam I can apply for money back. If it is a scam its very good, never thought I would get caught. Thanks for the heads up. Happy...

    Xmas pressy

Treated myself to a Black Friday deal on a Solar folding chair thinking nice and light...it wasn't . Heavy but extremely strong, another to add to the growing collection of garden / fishing chairs. Did get the book Casting Shadows, and just now saw North Face rain jacket for £37 posted reduced...

    Vehicle of choice

Must say I prefer vans too not worrying about getting mucky, I have hade three Combo's as a work tool used occasionally. But last one did blow up on a meadow on the River Arrow ...it did somewhat spoil the session though, luckily a mate was fishing there and ended OK. They have a grip of a...

    Vehicle of choice

My SAAB estate took some beating, sadly it was vandalised twice whilst fishing and I gave up on it. Some right weapons that are stealing oxygen. The amount of rough tracks on the BAA card you might be better off with a tank, but have heard good things about the Dacia...is car snobbery a thing...
