    Acolyte users??

Talking of extras in protection, the best I have was with a Drennan specialist Barbel rod, it was the quality single speccy sleeve and also came with a Drennan isotope.

Why no "Ghillie Service" for course fishing?

Never really understood the need for a guide, the sheer unknown and adventure in fishing new rivers is for me the buzz is sorting it out, to have a guide alongside is not for me. Carl I used to live in Southampton, and there is so much to go for, the Avon ,Test, Itchen, Stour and much more...

    Paste and boilie soaks

For me paste from halli pellets dipped in glug on the hair. Whatever glug is of no matter really imo. Just soak small pellets in water that just covers pellets and mould..

    Severn Trent Fail

That is a hard watch, especially so local to me. Of course it is not a priority to clean up our rivers by successive Governments but absolutely should. How ironic that the jewel in the crown Shad scheme and viewing window should be here at Diglis. "Roll up" and take the kids to see a dying river...

Korda camo bolt and run rigs,

We all use a variety of anti tangle gear which probably is overkill and influenced by the carp scene. Used to be an Arsley bomb secured by two shot, never tangled with a underarm lob and feathered. Never understood the need to cast like a beach caster when fishing a river.

Coming over from Ireland to fish the Wye. (Bucket list trip) . Any info appreciated

There are many factors that can determine how successful your trip will be, none moreso than the levels. But she is up and down like a fiddlers elbow being a spate river, fingers crossed mild conditions persist. Keep it simple large smelly meat as said, I fish one rod due to normally tight swims...

    Treating yourself.

Donate some money to charities fighting pollution maybe, to help your fishing retirement? But enjoy the gear you have, doesn't have to be expensive and custom to have a good time. Even on here...

    Fish intelligence

Define intelligence? All species have a certain amount, but is aligned to what they need to survive, breed , eat. If you compare humans with fish then of course we have a far larger brain, than most fish, the larger the fish/brain the bigger the intelligence. If intelligence is surviving 100...

Custom 11ft torrix 2lb guide preference

To much rubbish regarding double, single guides, I have singles on 11ft Torrix and all fine, and even lucked out two 15lb barbel with no issues. Personally and more importantly get the 11 ft 1.75 and don't agonise over guides.;)

    Mortimer and whitehouse new series

Fast show was brilliant..and the awkward relationship between the farmhand Whitehouse and his posh gay boss was comedy gold. This country produces wonderfully funny and did I mention 'This Country'? set in a Cotswold village with all the characters that could be right here. Mandy and her dog...

    Mortimer and whitehouse new series

I go fishing to escape all this nonsense, all the so called experts cant agree any one day what we should / shouldn't eat, the mood is centered around age, health, and death, with a bit of Bob acting like a half wit. It does nothing for Angling any more than Strictly does for dancing. But...

    First time on the Wye

Yes and there were matches on the Teme, such a delicate habitat to have such, no wonder it fell into decline, and then the predation picked off the stragglers.

    First time on the Wye

Head in the sand eh? As I said the game fisheries have a sensible approach to the habitat and not least angling pressure, we don't, that's the crux of it, deny it it and point it any direction you want but the evidence is for all to see. As far as me recommending Woody's what? Even if I did...

    First time on the Wye

The Teme is a river the barbel congregated to spawn, the lack of suitable habitat and the ridiculous June 16 th start and if you wish target spawning fish and trample the redds is in your opinion nothing to do with us in your opinion...what? Tell that sort of thinking to a well managed chalk...

    First time on the Wye

The Teme went the same way too much celebrity shows on the best barbel river in the country vibe, then it was the Gt Ouse now the Wye , the Trent is a big river but its just a matter of time. We don't manage our rivers do we? The biggest angling clubs in the country don't have an expert on...

    First time on the Wye

Trouble is putting folk on fish is hardly going to help stocks is it? It does however put a few quid in his till...whatever happened to the concept of Angling not just catching is it? Oh! and surprise surprise a spate river has high steep banks...then take a rope and spike. Sorry but the Wye has...
