I've got a few wishes aside from just enjoying being out there, an 8lb tench from an estate lake, one nice carp, a few more barbel on the pin and a few nice sessions for anything with my dad.
I’ve ended up ordering a 13ft from eBay. There was 20% off then a £10 off voucher so just over £200. Will be a while before it gets a run out for the tench but hopefully I’ll try it out in the river before the end of the season.
Hi Paul, I'll echo you on that one. 3 bouts of covid followed by pneumonia that I'm still recovering from 7 months later. Almost back to normal now.
A Christmas present of good health and a trouble free vehicle for 2024. And If I was really lucky I'd take an extra Daiwa Tournament TS5000BE for...
I haven't actually driven one but heard good things about the Dacia Dusters. The guy who trialled it at work said that off road it was much of much between that and a Hilux, just with much better mpg on the road with the Duster. Not sure what the boot space is like.
I think I said it on another thread but just for reference, diameter taken into account I feel the hydrotuff is far more abrasion resistant than the gr60 I used for 10 years.
I’ve been using it in the 20lb for a savagely weedy carp lake and in 12lb on the Wye. It’s tough as old boots, sinks quite well and memory isn’t too bad. The last two of those points don’t make any difference when I’m using with a tight line for barbel. I really like it, circumstantially.
GR60 was my go to for a long time although ended up on Hydrotuff last year. I'd be interested to know how the Hydrotuff compares to the GT80.
The Hydrotuff, anecdotally seems a fair bit tougher than the GR60.
I’ve got a pair of these and the guy in the shop said that they seem to be the farmers choice at the moment. The grip is exceptional and they do feel hardy. My only negative is that I was slightly in between sizes and mine are a little too big. I was on the way to the river though and realised...
Hi Daniel
I've given it a good bit of use now and really like it. I went for the carp waggler over a plus only because they did it in 11 and 12ft although I have been told they are pretty much the same? I wanted it to be 2 piece so I could leave it set up for using on a canal.
The rod has been...
My first proper carp rod was TF gear, can’t remember the model but it cost £50 and despite the cheap fittings I thought it was a nicer rod than a £225 Free Spirit I’ve had since. The cheap TF Gear Avon I had was a bit top heavy but the quiver section was fine. Can’t comment on the top end stuff...
Totally on board with that Damian, I feel like some rods have soul and others dont. They might be technically great or similar in spec but it doesn't mean they're nice to use or play a fish on.
I wouldn't mind one of these stepped up acolytes in 13ft for some tench fishing. Whilst I don't like...
Some eye opening comments in here, although unfortunately not surprising :(
I’m now boycotting my licence fee, haven’t paid for the last year or so and have no intention of doing it whilst the EA is a total farce.
Not the glide but I tried the tacklebox 13ft specimen float. Thought id try to stop being a rod snob. It felt horrible and went straight back in the post. I had been considering the glide but I’m just going to wait and save up for a second hand acolyte plus, even if it takes 6months.
