    New rod bag.....

Me too mate, but at present Mrs. T. is not complaining. She broke her wrist last week so at the moment I have my uses. Just hope I will accrue lots of brownie points over the next few weeks 😁.

Not a good start (snapped rod)

Sorry to see that Gavin. I can only imagine how bad you feel. Hope your luck changes tomorrow.

    Angling crossroads.

Had my ironing proficiency test this afternoon. A pass, but not a very high mark. The comment was, " needs a lot more practice". Ah well, only four weeks and five days to go !

    Angling crossroads.

In a very similar boat Simon for the next five weeks. Tomorrow I'm getting instruction know to iron properly. Wow, it's great to be a house husband !

    Dog spike and rope recommendations

Always use one after getting stuck down a steep bank about 10 years ago. Aldi had some in last week, cheap as chips. Also carry crampons because slipping down a bank on arrival is just as bad !

    Solid pva bag fishing

I use pva mesh and attach this to the lead with a bag clip. I then nick the hook into the bag so the hook link straightens out as the mesh melts. This allows you to use a long hook length without tangles.

    If you....

Hi Neil, I purchased the rod second hand from another forum member and can find very little information. I believe it was available about 2012 , list price £240, and was called the Trefor West barbel stalker. It was made on a very dark green, Harrison blank, but there is some debate if it is a...

When is an upgrade really an upgrade?

Alan, I had the opportunity to put line through a gti and torrix, side by side. Both 11' x 1.75 test. Wow, the difference is amazing. The gti bends much more and right through to the butt, whilst the Torrix is more progressive ( not really sure what that means !) getting much stiffer in the...

    Ouch !!!

I would like to highly recommend the drennan specimen microbarb hook range. The size 10 is very strong for its wire diameter and penetrates really well. This is first hand ( my left ) experience today. Went into my thumb behind the nail with no bother. But ouch what a "B" to get out.

    Tench 2024

Thanks Cliff. All three took me into weed, and I had to slacken off for a minute or two and let them find their way out.

    Tench 2024

First tench outing of the season. Had one about 4lb after an hour, then another wait before both rods went off in the space of two minutes. First in the net was 5.2 and the second a new p.b. 7.12. Chuffed !!!!

Grice and Young Gypsy D'Or larger handle upgrade possible?

If you know someone who does wood turning it would be easy for them to make new handles. They could be thicker, longer or both. There is probably a wood turning group near you, ask at your library. These guys usually have a lathe in their shed and lots of lovely wood. Good luck.

    Mark Tunley specialist multi tip

Had line through both a gti and a torrix last week to compare with my Trevor West. Amazed how much "softer" the through action gti was. The Torrix and t.w. were very similar, the different ringing probably making the slight difference.

Are Shimano baitrunner D and OC spools interchangeable?

And OC spools are less than twenty quid !!!!!!

    Drennan super specialist

I have the same. Great tench and chub rods. They usually sell for £70 - £90 in good condition.

    Season end

Nothing great as a catch report, but that doesn't mean I had a bad season. Lots of super memories to keep me smiling during the close season. My first barbel on the centrepin, had the hand injuries for weeks ! My first stick and pin lesson for barbel. (My "guide" thought it very funny I almost...
