    Interesting topic, and I have tried many flavours over the years, but never sweet flavours ( yet I did when carp fishing). Has anyone experimented with Scopex, Pineapple or Plum for example to flavour meat for barbel ?

    Sounds like you are doing everything right Stephen. I'd just get a new pack of hooks. I usually use Bank Tackle wide gape barbless in size 10 when fishing meat, and cannot remember the last time I bumped a fish off. Though to be honest I have had very few opportunities so far this season 😂.

    Early this morning, miles from anywhere on the river Nidd. Cast in, sit back and wait. Silence is golden. Thirty minutes later an irrigator fires up directly opposite. Peace shattered, moved swim, but the moment was gone 😥.

    Not tried the Swale David, but been thinking about giving it a go for a couple of years. It's just so easy to get to a good looking spot on one of the four rivers I know. But will have to give myself a kick and make the effort. Any advice on a good day ticket stretch would be appreciated.
