Regarding Harrison and blank availability - just had a delivery of blanks ordered around 7 weeks ago. Chimera Avon, Chimera 1 and Avon 1.06 plus some spare tips.
Cheers
Bob
Harrison are currently very busy and there is a longer wait than usual for their blanks.
Built quite a few Torrix 2.5 (and occasional 2.75) as 'flood' rods. The Torrix 2.5 is a fast action rod, the Chimera 3 is a more through action.
Also worthy of consideration is the Harrison Acurix (2.5 and...
Hi Adam,
Locking ring - yes could help but some negatives:
Fitting a locking ring would involve a degree of 'disassembly' of the rod (front or back fitting) and shortening of thread length. So you might as well fit a new reel fitting. There are a few methods that can economise on labour but...
Good quality cork is expensive (eye watering so!) medium quality is slightly less so.
Even poor quality can be priced 'greedily'.
There is no standard accepted grading system and so one persons A grade can be another builders mediocre.
A lot use preformed cylinders and so it goes on and...

Thought at one time the Nash Nomad 35l bag was good apart from the open side pockets primarily intended for the Nash mini bags (leads and hook, Boilie and Rig Board bags etc). Served me well over the years. When I replaced the Nomad with another make, I got offered a brand new Nash Nomad Mk 2...
RH did a bait that was black, sweet and spicy with Ultraspice and Leaf Spice EA back in the 2000's. One of his mixes was black and sticky I seem to remember?

EDIT more like the 80's
Have recently built a pair of FS Big Waters and a pair of Torrix 2.25 and IMO there is quite a difference. At the end of the day quite a bit rests on personal preference.
Cheers

Hi Lea,
I'm sorry to hear of your misfortune regarding the tip on your Torrix and thank you for providing the picture - which enabled me to research the order more fully.
The tip appears to have fractured 'cleanly' and in a position that would indicate a replacement tip would be pretty much the...
