Different types of generic 'Duplon' over the years. Seem to remember that early types were quite rubbery in texture and were not complete closed cell.
'Duplon' was a trade name as was 'Orblon'. Seems that EVA is widely used now.
A bit of shrink wrap on these and very little else apart from a bit of wood - Harrison Ballista Slims.
I made a few beachcaster rods with spiral wound cork sheet which felt quite nice.
Duplon - cheap and makes assembling rod handles easy and characterless. Some types can feel 'squishy' when wet.
However, consistent and convenient.
Cork - can be expensive to the extent of eye watering. Can be difficult to work and shape. Available in made up bored cylinders but still...
Always used to make my own bait and really found it interesting. Even made some bait (basemix) for BFW which was sold under the name of B8.
Boilies, pastes, steamed, meats etc etc.
Very addictive, time consuming and expensive hobby.
In recent years found it more convenient to use established...
Paul,
Very sad but know exactly where you are coming from.
As you know I've also taken a back seat and don't see me returning - for a lot of the same reasons you have given.
Will talk again when this has fully sunken in.
Wish you, Sue and family all the best and care.
Cheers,
Bob
We (I mean I !) have a Fiat Panda 4x4 and a Nissan Nismo Juke. Both are not very 'easy' as fishing wagons, the Panda being the worse of the two with regard to space and rod room. At least the Juke allows easy folding of the seats.
Hope this helps and wish you luck in your search.

Got a couple of 12' Torrix 1.25 specials both twin tips (1 x standard and 1x insert quivers), the top one has a flattened handle and is Harrison chestnut brown. Glass fibre quivers shown, although I did make some carbon too.
and
Versatile rods.
Done this sort of modification on a number...
Fuji do a couple of slideable hook keepers and these use O rings to secure them and are available in a few colours.
Fuji EHKM Universal slideable hook Keeper.
Guides and Blanks have them at around £2 each.
You can also get them on ebay.

Yes, shame indeed but I guess they had to trim their activities to keep costs down - both 'painting' and grinding blanks smooth were once 'free of extra charge' but that's some years back..
Knowing how painting is done it's a fair amount of work.
Messing around with suitable pigments and/or...
Hi Mark - I did make quite a lot of i-powers for Bfw but predominately as the twin tip (1.75 and 2.0 test). Is it signed? . I signed most but not all, and these go back a number of years. The i-power blank was made by Harrison for Bfw.

Both share a common butt 1.75 and 2.0 lb test.
You can buy them in blank form as a twin tip - that is 1 butt section and 2 (1.75 and 2lb) tips.
Made lots both in single and double tips form.
Sold a very nice 1.75 yesterday, made from a new chestnut brown blank that Harrison stopped quite a few...
Yup, lots of discussion on some rod building forums and seem to be the current 'darling' of the rod blanks.............until the nextb one comes along.

Loved the Chimera 2, was indifferent about the 3 and Flood and Snag.
Went over to the Torrix blank when they came out, but now building a Chimera 2 and Chimera 1 for me and also a Chimera 1.25.
Picture of my old Chimera 2 from 200x something.
Cheers
