    Best waders

I know OP is sorted, but Simms, Guideline, Patagonia and Orvis do 'the best' waders... stocking foot (neoprene) with separate wading boots. Personally, after fly fishing for 40 years, I wouldn't buy chest waders, for three reasons: 1, they encourage you to wade in deeper water than is safe...

    Drennan Acolyte Specimen Rod

Preferably a nice centrepin... got to be worth a second bottle of Prosecco. .

    Fox Duralite Chair

I have one of these. I think it's the best chair out there, unless you want the weight of an accessory chair. I did weigh mine and it's exactly as Fox say, 3.2kg. Asking price and delivery is a bargain. .

    Drennan Acolyte Specimen Rod

That would be a waste of good Spam. .

    Drennan Acolyte Specimen Rod

Good to know, although unsuccessful, it wasn't an idiotic idea. I've plenty more to come though!! 😁 .

    Drennan Acolyte Specimen Rod

If 'the market' wasn't so obsessed with weight, I suggest that longer rods could have more in the butt end, for balance and to reduce swing weight, making them actually feel lighter - in use. Trouble is, it seems that nobody would buy a prestige float rod weighing 300 grams. If anyone wants to...

Summer Barbel print by John Searl

Might be worth reading this previous thread. https://barbel.co.uk/forum/threads/barbel-framed-print-john-searl-rare-ltd-edtion.9067/

    Drennan Acolyte Specimen Rod

Not sure why you're confused. I prefer downlocking reel seats, they feel more secure to me - I didn't say one was better than the other. .

    Drennan Acolyte Specimen Rod

Edit: while typing I see Ian has replied, but FWIW (as I'm a relative coarse fishing novice) I agree. .

    Chasing chub....

My first decent chub. On a day when (after a couple of seasons coarse fishing for anything that moved) I completely changed my approach, to target bigger fish. It's a bit upturned in the photo, but was slightly longer than the net, so about 22"... no idea what weight. Been catching similar fish...

    Some advice required

I wouldn't sell them (or anything) as a combination - someone will want the rod, someone will want the reel, very few (if any) will want both. Just offer a discount and combined postage to anyone buying both. .

    Trotting for Barbel

Nice. I just bought my first centrepin, a mint JW Young BJ... and I have the same rod, although I just bought a 14ft Acolyte Specimen as well. If I can hijack with a supplementary question: I wonder what the consensus is, on line BS, when trotting for barbel with a pin. Much of what I've read...

    Drennan Acolyte Specimen Rod

I was looking at a video the other day, of a chap promoting a JW Young centrepin - the £460.00 Triton. He had it on a Korum Glide. Make what you will of that. .

    Spam

I have low cholesterol (3.1), so I can eat all the Spam I like. Although I think, like a McDonalds, once a year is quite enough! .

    Spam

I took Spam with me yesterday, to try for the first time. On the first trot the Spam came off, so I went back to maggots (and promptly caught a 5lb chub)... and ate the Spam. NB. bad idea to eat slightly salty food, on a hot day, when running low on fluids. 😁 My incompetence I guess, but next...

    Drennan Acolyte Specimen Rod

JC, I'll second that. Ian gave me valuable advice, not least in terms of the comparison with the Plus (that I already had), before I bought my Specimen. With that and other comments I found online, I concluded that I didn't 'need need need' the Specimen, but was prepared to buy it anyway, with...

    Drennan Acolyte Specimen Rod

Maiden outing for mine (14ft) today on the Avon and first time trotting in any serious flow. Got a 5lb chub second cast, followed by half a dozen smaller ones. Very hot, difficult fishing, but it was good to get a feel for the rod with a decent fish on it. Does what it says on the tin - a...

Images wanted - underwater river gravel swims with fish

Welcome to the forum. Can I suggest, Dave, as a matter of courtesy since it appears to be your first post, to explain what you want these for? .
