    Surprise visitor

I was joined by a peregrine, for about two hours on the Avon, near Bidford, yesterday. It swept over the river several times and twice wheeled away right over my head, so it must have known I was there. It felt like a privilege to be in its company. I was also joined by a barbel, but it shook...

    New Drennan Barbel Rods

I had a carrier section breakage earlier in the year - or rather my friend had one, on a rod I sold him, and he's not local to the dealerr so I dealt with the replacement. It took about six weeks, but they did agree to replace it. That replacement promptly broke, in exactly the same place, and...

    Hardy15' float rod on eBay?

If anyone is interested in the Hardy, I received an offer of £310.00 on it, earlier today. I was no longer watching it, so declined. I dare say the seller will take less, since nobody has bought it yet. .

    New Drennan Barbel Rods

I know that - I've had experience of their service, via my dealer. I just wanted to know what other people's experience has been, especially if something has broken. .

    New Drennan Barbel Rods

Martin Bowler reckoned the Acolyte Distance Feeder was a great barbel rod. I think it's 13ft, which would put me off, but it might suit the Trent. His views might have changed since his apparently acrimonious split with Drennan. I think at the budget end of barbel rods, the Shimano Purist BX3...

    New Drennan Barbel Rods

That's odd, because the TT Duo I bought in June has exactly the same finish as the new Drennan barbel rod I looked at yesterday. .

    Vehicle of choice

Top Gear also left the Hilux in Morecambe Bay overnight, so it got completely swamped with sand and water. Started the next day, no problem. It was rhe vehicle they couldn't kill. .

    Vehicle of choice

I had a diesel auto Toyota Hilux (40+ mpg), about 10 years ago, which I should never have sold. Had one in Africa in 2005 and did about 30,000km in it, a circuitous route from Cape Town to the Equator and back, including every sub-Equatorial country apart from Botswana. Easy to work on and they...

Korum Trilogy or Daiwa Powermesh 2.25 rods?

Daiwa. Or if not, please PM me with the seller's details and I'll buy it.

    Vehicle of choice

I have my first RR as well, after years of Mercedes and BMW (and Porsche, but that's another story). My only gripe is the cost of fixing anything. The diesel exhaust fluid system (to make it ULEZ compliant) is particularly problematic. Mine has failed twice and cost over £2k to fix... the car...

    Why Korum, why?

Korum certainly brought something different to the table with the latest S23 chair's parallelogram legs. As half-ar5ed ideas go, it's a beauty... when I had a notion to buy an accessory chair a few months ago, not a single Korum dealer advised me to buy one. I can't see the dealers pushing this...

    Why Korum, why?

If Korum reinvented the wheel, it would be hexagonal. This is the company that promotes the Omega rod, by saying: 'It doesn't get any better than this'. If that is the case (and we all know it isn't), then I wonder why, only a year after launch, the Omega can be found reduced to half price. .

    Keepnet wanted.

Ah! I didn't read it properly. Why does he (or anyone this forum) NEED a keep net? Unless he's fishing matches, just catch (take pics if necessary) and release. .

    Keepnet wanted.

Or even Angl1ng D1rect - a Guru net is only about £15.00, they also have inexpensive handles. The Tackle Tavern also have load of used kit... next day delivery.... I can recommend them for reliability. .

How often do you replenish your mainline?

Interesting stuff chaps. Can't see me changing to braid - I use it out of necessity on my 'nuisance pike' lure rod, but I don't like it. Gardner Hydro Tuff gets a lot of love, but regardless of make it's reassuring to know that breaks can, and do, happen to other people, sometimes for no...

How often do you replenish your mainline?

Not sure I understand, Graham, but I don't leave them in the car - and I never leave them 'made-up'... if that's what you're getting at? .
