I've recently been using Preston KKH size 10, which on the evidence of snag recovery are a lot stronger than Drennan's Specimen or Specialist hooks, which come back bent. And I've just bought some Korum Grappler's in a 6 - they look a bit barbaric, but they'll take a bigger chunk of Spam than...
I recently started a similar 'which brolly' thread and I agree with Richard's comment about the flat tops on some brollies.
I'm looking at the Pentalite (five sections, pointy top), and the new Progress brolly. The latter appears to have eight sections, but still has a pointed top.
As usual...

Why do you need a 'stepped up/power rod' rod for grayling? A 15ft Acolyte Plus would easily be enough rod. I've had double-figure nuisance pike on my 14ft Plus. I also have the 14ft Acolyte Specimen - for barbel - but I'd use the Plus if I were after grayling.
I partially agree with Chris and...
Can anyone recommend or comment on any of these two Korum shelters?
I like the look of a brolly with side flaps, but I'm not sure which of these two current 50" models, or an older discontinued one, to get:
- Pentalite Brolly Shelter
- Progress Graphite Brolly Shelter
The Pentalite (left) has...
I'd welcome that, because people are using the term without apparently explaining what they mean by it. Unless they do, it's hard to separate the myths from the facts... and I'm interested in the facts.
I'm not suggesting this as a provocation (because I'm here to learn, not argue about...
(Sorry, this appears to be partly duplicated.)
How does that put 'pressure' on the fish?
And @neil. You can argue all you like about how anglers put pressure on the fish, but unless you define what you mean by that, it's hard to make reasonable sense of your arguments. And I'm open-minded...
I think river management is the least of our worries, especially for the Wye. Agricultural run-off (aka chicken sh1t) is the worst offender. Next, on the Wye, are the canoe hire businesses and the drunken yobbos they allow into their canoes, complete with barrels full of beer, and ghettos...
I doubt that would be a serious fight - just jostling for territory. Neither bird would risk injury when there's nothing to be gained. It's the same with most birds, where neither are prey - it's why buzzards don't put up a fight against crows... just not worth it.
