    OMC magic twig

I'm new to barbel fishing, but that's why I don't wear camo clothing, use two rods, or own a Delkim Txi-D V2 Presentation set (yours for only £579.99)... 😁 and I often HOLD my rod while waiting for bites (something a true carper wouldn't be seen dead doing). I vote we continue the...

    OMC magic twig

I wish the barbel in the beats I fish on the Avon would self-hook themselves on my hair rigs. They must be more intelligent (perhaps more than me) over here than in the Nene. I reckon it's anthropomorphising if you're suggesting that barbel are stupid, simply because they've evolved to take...

**SOLD** Daiwa Spectron M2 13' Spliced Tip Float Rod

Does it come with the Triton, Alan? 😁 .

    OMC magic twig

I'm even averse to the idea of someone else helping me land a fish - we have two arms (caveat: most of us), one for the rod, one for the net. .

    Lidl garlic sausage

Got a blank look when I asked for garlic sausage and bacon grill in Lidl, Cheltenham, yesterday. Then spent about £70.00 in AD on bait, additives (yes, I'm a fool) and PVA, and went for an impromptu session, catching a barbel of about 8-9lbs on........ maggots. (And the bite was only a twitch.)...

    Drennan roving bag alternative

Good call, Kevin. Must admit, although I love my Korda 45l, until yesterday* I've not fished in winter, or flood water conditions on a muddy and slippery bank before... but I can now see the appeal of the lie-flat, wipe-clean Korum bags. * Got my second barbel, btw (I'm only a novice), about...

    OMC magic twig

I can't agree with any argument that a self-hooking device and hair rigs on running line are not dissimilar. There's a world of difference between what's required of the angler... ie. not much, in the case of the carper, until the alarm sounds and he can wake from his slumber and reel the fish...

    Floodwater line

Interesting link. I'm not into braid, but it says most of them break at much lower specifications than the makers claim. I assumed it would be the other way around. This thread, supported by the link has persuaded me to try Gardner Hyro Tuff for my flood water set-up. .

    Ebay, fees from 1st October

Okay... I just sold a spotting scope (birdwatching) on eBay and incurred no fees - the full amount (just under £400.00) was paid out to my bank account. .

    Drennan roving bag alternative

I use my Korda Compac 45 litre rucksack (for everything) - it's more comfortable than a shoulder bag, IMO. It has loops on top for an unhooking mat. I don't feel the need to buy anything smaller specifically for roving - if I'm going light, I just don't fill it. .

    Ebay, fees from 1st October

Is that only if you can't resolve a dispute and you ask eBay to 'step in', as they say? Usually you can resolve things without them getting involved, and if the dispute is against the seller, they can balance if it's worth £16.00 not to sort things out before it gets that far. It sounds like a...

    Ebay, fees from 1st October

That was my first reaction, that it was about listing fees, but I 'read the small print' and was surprised to find that the final value fee is 0% for UK sellers, of most items, selling to UK buyers. Messages crossing - I see you've looked at it again. ;) .

Anyone got a few Bob spare?

Well, I tried to be civil, but you should have heard her language... she wasn't charming and she was certainly no 'Lady'. (And this was in Herefordshire, but she sounded like a character from Eastenders.) .

Anyone got a few Bob spare?

Last year I had an altercation with a woman who owned some land where my fishing association had the fishing rights. I don't know what the legal arrangements are between her and the club, but she was allowing her three very large dogs loose in shallow water and effectively ruining the fishing...

    Ruckall recommendations

I had the biggest of the Korum ones... they call theirs 'ruckbags'. One large opening seemed like a good idea, but when actually using mine I found that I preferred to separate my tackle from my clothes, drinks and foods, so I went back to a 'rucksack' with more outer compartments for tackle...

Anyone got a few Bob spare?

Like if the landowner refuses access to the river over his/her land - unless there are covenants / wayleaves to grant such access. Anyway, the Wye is largely dead, or dying, so unless they wipe out chicken farming don't have sleepless nights chaps. .

    Ruckall recommendations

I've bought/returned/kept for a while, rucksacks from Drennan (not enough padding in the back or the straps), various Korum (good, but too long a story as to why I never kept any of them), Thinking Anglers (far too small, and too high on the back) and now the Korda Compac, the 45 litre one...
