Are you sure? They'll be like broomsticks. I'd have thought 2.25lb was about right... why not stick to your original plan? I wouldn't compromise on your choice of rods because they were the right price (if that's the reason).
Plenty of posts on the reels, if you search the forum, but 4000-6000...
I was looking at one of the Darent Valley medium quiver tip feeder rods (forget which one), but was put off by the fact that The Tackle Box said the only quiver tips available for it were the ones it came with. The tone of their reply to my email was somewhat dismissive.
You were asking about...
I just bought an 11ft Guru N-Gauge Pro Distance Feeder and it's a lovely rod - not exactly cheap, but for me, it's an Acolyte-beater (see below: spares). Forget the 'distance' bit, I bought it for roaming for chub and perch. The Specimen Barbel is also a nice looking rod in the flesh (the 1.75lb...
The guys at Bankside Tackle reckon a lot of the lower Severn fishermen use Korum Barbel rods because they're inexpensive and robust enough for the local conditions. But if your budget is £400.00 (for one rod and reel?) you can buy fancier and new. If you like bait runners, the Shimano Baitrunner...
I'll offer guidance, FOC... on the various spellings of 'coarse' fishing. And whereas an actual fishing guide may take you on a certain course for your coarse fishing, a corse* fishing guide would be no use to anyone (except as a possible source of maggots). 😁
* Defn. corpse or dead body.

That's what has caught me most of my 'big-to-me' fish this year. But I've also caught big chub on Dynamite Baits Robin Red and Marine Halibut pellets. Apart from Spam and maggots, Nash Scopex Squid is the bait I have most confidence in, although my biggest barbel was on half a dozen maggots on a...
Feeder tips (if you have them) also affect how a rod casts. I leave those with more knowledge than me to elaborate, if they wish, but my barbel and feeder rods are all twin tips, which I like because I like to use lead as light as 10-15g whenever I can (even in the floods of a few weeks ago)...
I know someone who might buy the other one, Ian, but he's on a downer after two blanks days a fortnight ago - I can't promise he's in the mood to spend, but I can ask.
PM, if you'd rather.

Free Spirit CTX Barbel Tamer 1.75lb Twin Tip
New this year and used about a dozen times. In almost mint condition (the usual signs of use to the cork). Comes with an additional 6oz feeder tip worth about £20.00, so bear that in mind price-wise. Will knock off £15.00 if you don't want it...
Looking at the photos (on their website), the Korum ones appear to be both the same size - 26 x 20 x 9.5cm. Although they say one of them is 20 x 20 x 9.5cm, the square one looks oblong to me! Another point of confusion is that they are both supposed to be 4 litres. But it's typical of Korum...
Has anyone even got one yet? Looks a great little bag - I'm thinking of getting one too (I'm certain my Fox Edges tackle box will fit).
You can figure out the approximate internal size from what's inside it in the photo: Roving Blox 145 x 250 x 91mm and Hardcase Pouch 260 x 200 x 95mm. So it's...
They don't. The Saber one you showed opens on the side opposite to the straps and the back padding. The Korum, Fox and Aqua ones open on the side of the straps and the back padding. Therefore the (inner) back padding and straps of the Saber would get wet when laid flat to open from the opposite...
I think you mean Specialist Triangle. I got a Drennan Specialist after leaving my folding Korum one at Fladbury. It's a 24", which looked huge to me, but will be deemed too small by more successful barbel fishermen. Very happy with it, very solid. Don't think I'll go back to a folding one.
If I...
