As above, the box has come appart, not ripped, I think the glue holding it together has just died of old age. This has happened whilst the scales have been in my possession and stored away.
Here's some pictures so people know exactly what their condition is....
I've never taken...
Curious Richard as to what hooks you use? After using multiple different types of hooks over the years I have always found animal micro barbedand drennan superspades, again micro barbed to be the best hook patterns to keep hold of grayling, and my go to sized hook in them has usually been a 14s...

If you blow the pics up Richard you might be able to check the cork out, even through the placcy you can get an idea of the filler in...
I only had one chub of about 4lb and a few little tiddly ones today, but I also had a few decent roach, and dace too, but I had 27 of these ....
mostly around the size of those in the photos, but several of about 8 ounces!
It was enjoyable catching them on the float gear, ok only small...
When i've legered i've always found the barbel just hook themselves against the line and rod tip, hence the rod bending round as they try to swim off.
I gave up on all the anti tangle rigs etc, all expence for nothing and just adds bulk to the line which will without doubt gets snagged easier...
