Pull the hook through the meat with a baiting needle and put a piece of grass stalk, hawthorn spike or similar under the bend of the hook and pull the hook down firmly against the grass and meat 😉👍.

    NGT CENTREPIN ... blimey !!!

I don't thinks he's "pouring scorn on peoples chips" Barry. I think he is being realistic, they are just a cheap reel. Lets be honest, your not going to get a quality centrepin reel for 35 ripps.

    Drennan super spade hooks....

My acolyte super spades arrived the other day and I made an effort to get on the bank and give them a try out yesterday....Blimey!... was it a hot one! I was very happy with the appearence of the hooks, and unlike the acolyte grippa hooks which were kind'a small in size with a small spade, these...

    Drennan Acolyte Specimen Rod

I've been using the plus specifically for barbel and chub for years and found it to be great. I have been using the specimen model since it was released and it is a more powerful rod. You can definatley put more pressure on a fish with the specimen rod. I posted on the chasing chub thread about...

    DAIWA SENSOR LINE PROBLEMS

Don't blame you for being jacked off about that! Strange how some people have this issue with it, especially so many times? Do you get it from the same supplier Brian?

    DAIWA SENSOR LINE PROBLEMS

I must be very lucky, because i've been buying/using bulk spools of sensor for 20yrs and never had this issue with it appart from the one time when it was damaged in the post due to not being packed with enough protection.

    DAIWA SENSOR LINE PROBLEMS

The only time i've ever had that problem is when the spool has been bashed about in a placcy bag whilst being delivered. The supplier replaced the spool when I messaged them about it. Daiwa sensor is idea for me and my fishing.

    Catching at any cost

If the fish are infront of you and in feeding mode I imagine catching 62 would be very possible. I myself had 43 barbel in an afternoons float fishing, my estimated sizes of them were between 5 and 10lbs, plus numerous other fish species mixed in amongst them. The population of barbel stayed...

    Drennan super spade hooks....

They look the part, 15 in a pack and japanese made sounds great ! I've used the drennan acolyte grippa hooks which are teflon coated and I haven't noticed them coming free of a fish. They do seem to keep a sharp point longer than other hooks. I've just ordered a few packs of the acolyte super...

    Drennan super spade hooks....

I hope the originals arn't discontinued Bob! These new acolyte versions may be great, but I very much hope the original super spades will still be available incase the new acolyte versions don't turn out to be to my, and other peoples liking. I'll be interested in the actual sizes of the new...

    Drennan super spade hooks....

...they are my all time favourite hooks for trotting for all species including barbel and chub. I've just clocked this on youtube .... They do look very interesting and I am looking forward to getting some and giving them a go to see how they compare to the original superspade hooks which I...

    Centre pin recommendations

I'm not well up on metals, but the okuma springs just look like a bit of tempered flattened steel. They are imo very thin and cheap'o looking compared to a lot of other reels. Funny how I have a reel of over a hundred years of age and yet the ratchet on that is still sound, although it has a...

    Centre pin recommendations

The ratchet spring on my okuma aventa has just broken. I don't play fish on the ratchet but it's inevitable that the sprigs will break eventually, especially if you use the reel alot. I've used this reel many times over about a decade. Luckily I have a replacement spring because finding a...

Excellent Service from Chris at JW Young.

I spoke to Chris this afternoon and explained about my accident with the reel, he was very helpful for sure. He pinged me his address and i'll be sending the reel to him after the weekend. Fingers crossed he can fettle it 🤞.

Deffo a sickener Alan, i'd just cleaned it and was about to take it to put it away 🙄. Luckily I have another reel 😉👍.

Excellent Service from Chris at JW Young.

I've just had an unfortunate accident with one of my RS reels....droped it onto a radiatore and then it bounced onto a tiled floor. Anyhow, the brass foot is FUBAR and there are a couple of nicks in the polished spool rim. Appart from that the reel seems to run fine and there doesn't appear to...
