    Feeder rod recommendations

New rods I agree with Jon and the Shakespeare rods are hard to beat and a steal at the price. Second hand I would go for a team Normark 13ft multi tip - superb rods if you can find one.

    Bass Petition

Hi, once again there is a lot of politics surrounding the latest ICES (International Council for the Exploratation of the Seas). Anglers and conservationists all over Europe are working hard to prevent a total collapse in the bass stock caused by over fishing. Please read the attached briefing...

    Seat box.

Seat box I did not like the typical low seat for a lot of my fishing and find it very awkward to float fish from. At the same time my usual Matchbox was heavy to carry around when moving around a lot. I contacted Jim at matchbox and got this of him. I added a strap at the front to carry it...

    Jan Porter has passed away

Jan had been fighting cancer for some years and certainly was upbeat about it very recently. Horrible the way it lurks there you think you have won then rears it's head again.

    Jan Porter has passed away

I knew him well. A smashing guy who just loved fishing. I spoke to him not long ago and he was in good health or at least that was the impression I got! Very sad.

Shimano Ultegra Ci4+ 5500 XTB reels

I bought the XSB which is basically the same reel. For £15 I purcased the baitrunner spool kits from Filindre so I have the fast drag and the baitrunner. Took a little while to get used to the baitrunner spool but I now find it easy to use. It can also be tightened right up if needs be in heavy...

Help Needed to identify a Normark Float Rod

Sorry, only just seen this. I think your rod is an NMB 1563. That stands for: Normark Blank (NMB), 13ft (156"), 3 piece. They were the first range of Normark rods that Omri Thomas brought back from Japan. He took it to Geoff Salisbury who did the spliced tip and changed the design...

    Bass" Protection " Legislation farce.

Hi Craig, I think you may have the wrong project. Please see joint BASS and AT statement below. I will also attach the link. I think the posters you have seen might be the save our seabass campaign? Fishing Ministers accused of ‘shameful conservation con trick’ over bass stocks...

    Bass" Protection " Legislation farce.

The AT are involved - in campaining to get this changed. I was at the CAG meeting when we discussed it. A lot of sea fisherman are in the AT and like other anglers a lot are not. Further what seems to have infuriated everyone is George Eustice allowing the gill netting, the most damaging method...

Hello, my name is Noddy and I have a question.

Powerline 0.21mm will get anything out. 0.19mm is very good and a bit finner. If its not snaggy it is easy to use 0.17mm. It is strong, knots well and has good abrasion resistance. Try sliding an imitation red maggot or a live one up the shank and over the eye / spade to hide it. I find it...
