Not much to report. It was a very cold night with a few fish being lost and only a few bream caught. Walking along today everyone was struggling- even fishing maggots for a bit of action. Conditions wise it’s not good, gin clear and bright. Tonight is going to be milder and hopefully a few more...
Hi Bill, we have a date for your diary, Saturday 12th August. We are waiting for confirmation of the venue and I will post up all the details in due course. In the mean time anyone can attend one of our Fish-ins which are dotted about the south of the country. Give me a PM for more details...
Hi Tony, we will probably be having another next year but I'm not sure about the venue yet. The best thing to do is to register with the AT for the newsletters. I will obviously post it up here again in any case.
I'd recommend having a look at the Cadence range. Very similar to the Torrix in action (I have both), from what you want it for I'd go for the 1.25lb TC.
Nice looking one, I’m always amazed at the size of the tail. People see them cruising serenely around marinas and harbours and don’t think of an athlete, until you hook one you cannot believe the speed and power that tail can generate, then there’s the stamina…. Great sporting fish.

Use a very small bead above the float rather than allowing the knot to stop on the eye. It will slide a lot easier and the knot cannot get stuck in the eye. Nice job!
I have 8 Cadence 4000 reels I use for float fishing and ledgering. I have one 3000 size reel I use for lure fishing. I think either is suitable for what you want, I prefer the 4000 size for float fishing as I have big hands. I have a mate who swapped to a 3000 as he struggled with little fingers...
Hi Jon, until I get some eyes made you would need to modify them yourself. I’ve used large fine wire hooks for the eyes previously. I don’t think the top eye that comes on the float sticks out far enough to slide properly
I'm giving this a bump in time for the start of the new river season.
I've just received the 11gr Big Float, this takes a 10gr olivette plus another gram of droppers and bait. Ideal for big baits on big rivers such as the Wye, Trent and Severn.
These sell at £2.50 each (the rest of the range...
