Looks like it’s up for re-homing if anyone wants it? They only grow to 12 stone and their favourite meal is fingers and toes, so you’ll need plenty of visitors.
Was hoping to the fish the Thames today but chickened out after all the rain. Dad and I fished the canal instead and had one bite between us in 3 or 4 hours, luckily it was a lovely looking 2.12.
I paid about £60 for an 11ft ten years ago. I gave it to my dad years back but watching him catching a few fish on it in the summer reminded me what a cracking action it’s got. I still think its a hell of a rod for £60.

Please could someone recommend an echosounder for using on a proper boat?
Budget of about £200 and just want it to show depths, weed, snags etc. It would be good if could show streamer weed as well as thicker stuff.
If it was possible to download data off it and produce maps...
Well I had another crack and did an overnighter, setting up just before dark and fishing till lunchtime the next day. I fished a lot better than the time before and baited super accurately although blanked. I changed to my tench rods which probably cursed me.
I completely agree with what you've said. Perhaps my comment was a little flippant, it came from a place of apathy having worked in rural land management/ forestry and peatland restoration for the last ten years. Throughout my time working I haven't seen us more than blink when it comes to...
The otters at Symonds Yat seemed to wait till evening to come out but would swim right past you and didn’t mind being spotlighted with the headtorch. Like Graham said, as big as dogs as well.
Sounds a nightmare. SSSI's as a designation and management tool seem to be failing horribly, mirroring the overall situation on conservation in England and Wales. Too much time worrying about beavers and otters and not enough addressing catastrophic insect decline and all the rest of it.
That's it Bill, just a blessing to get out isn't it. For health reasons that was my first trip back down the lake since mid August and I was like a pig in poop, had the GSW behind me, owls, great white egrets, little egrets and the snowdrops came out 🙏
My first set lasted many years. The replacement has pretty much broken within 3 months. Not very impressed at all.
I’d like a set of the Reuben heaton specimens 30lb x 1oz but they’re beyond my means at the moment. Then I’d ‘need’ another set anyway for the possibility of a 30+ carp.
There’s...

I had blagged 3 tench the other day (and night) all about 6lbs, I have to admit it was whilst carp fishing but sometimes there's not much difference between the two. If I was specifically after the tench I probably would have just shaved a bit off the tutti wafter and used a...
I hope the beavers obtained the appropriate permissions before carrying out work in the SSSI 😂
Tim, not wanting to assume too much could you elaborate a bit more on the nature of the site and the problems they’ve caused?
I’d probably get some second hand delkim evs, I’ve had some for almost 15 years and only upgraded them last summer. They still work fine though and never even coughed at me.
