What are your top ten angling books?

I'd like to read a Jason Hayward book. I've got Carpers Path by Dave Little coming tomorrow and am looking forward to that. I've also just blagged a borrow of the first Mike Wilmott book which I've noticed a few people have listed.

What are your top ten angling books?

I really enjoyed Franks book, sold it on but wished I'd taken pictures of a few bits before I did so.

What are your top ten angling books?

I think my favourite John Bailey ones are Trout at Ten Thousand Feet and Casting for Gold, also both cheap reads.

What are your top ten angling books?

You don’t need to pay more than £30 for the Terry Hearn books or Forgotten Chapters. I tried to sell Channel Zander on here a while back for less than that and no one wanted it. Also sold one of the Terry Lampard books for £45 on here I think.

What are your top ten angling books?

In no particular order; Elite Barbel - Tony Miles All the Terry Hearn books Red Eye - Mick Cutler Catch a Big Fish - David Carl Forbes. I read my dad’s copy repeatedly as a kid and that was probably what got me in to wanting catch specific fish or bigger ones. Secret Carp and Deepening...

I forgot about Snyde, used to like that one.

Harrison Torrix custom vs factory made

Hi Scott, one piece of advice I would have is to make sure everything is ironed out completely. I.e how many eyes and what sizes, what exact guides as well. And clarify the size of the reel seat etc. Don't take it for granted that they will make a sensible decision if you are not specific. I...

Not like for like but Kigan 3D in black are still available.

    Vorter air guides

I've been assured that the black coating really is just cosmetic and people are still using them for some serious fishing without the coating. The outcome is I'm paying for some new eyes and they are going to get them fitted for me. Perhaps by early 30s I'm already a bygone but I will be...

    Vorter air guides

Here's what I've got so far; 'All of the black "centreless" guides, like Vortex, Ti Forged, Minima's, TDG's etc will lose the coating on the contact point with the line, the centres of the ring are a coated metal lining as opposed to the silicon insert on a traditional ring, obviously the rings...

    Vorter air guides

Hi David, these have been used on a couple of hundred year old estate lake. Very silty and weedy but generally very clean.

    Vorter air guides

I didn’t know anything about them (apart from convincing sales blurb) and have never previously had anything except good quality fujis. I’ve got a 16 year old rod where the Fuji inserts are as good as new, although the metal ring and whipping glue is aging. There’s a bit of me that just can’t...

    Vorter air guides

Just a post to say that based on my experience so far, I would whole heartedly not recommend these. About 10 days worth of fishing and the finish is disappearing to show the metal beneath. It looks like the line will just be running across a bit of stainless steel with a few more trips. I'm...

    Mark Tunley specialist multi tip

If everyone knows someone is a custom rod builder then if it looks horrendous in some people’s eyes then surely it doesn’t matter, as long as it’s what the customer wanted and they’re happy with it? It’s no slight on the rod builder. At the same time it sounds a nice position to be in to turn...

Consider getting in touch with Dave Bone, I think what he does looks every bit as quality as the aforementioned.

I’ve got the same on my aviators and think they’re nicer than the Fuji black dps anyway. Older rods I’ve got with black Fuji dps were a mat finish, where as the newer glossier one looks a bit tacky I think.

    Return to fishing

Hi Craig, that first fish is going to feel pretty special. If I was in your position and ended up buying a rod I'd probably go with Daiwa or Fox at that price. Perhaps things have changed but I have never picked up a Korum rod and thought I would enjoy using it. Where as I've always been quite...
