I think with pva it’s more about the accuracy of the free offerings to your hookbait… unless you’re putting out a massive bed of bait ie baiting an area not a spot … even if you are clipping up you won’t get the same accuracy as you would with pva
I never fish a hooklink over 2ft I prefer to pin the line down behind the lead with a mtr of tungsten tubing I have dabbled with pva but not solid bags I use pva mesh slid onto the hooklink

Had a disagreement with a couple of people once on a fishing forum when dean macey caught 3 14,s from Collingham and in the same week a young lad had a 15 from the gt ouse … I argued there was more merit in the 15 than 3 14,s from Collingham weir….. I got accused of being jealous 😂
We are fishing the same stretch and pretty much the same spots when you wasn’t using flavour rich and I was using it at low levels we were both using the exact same base mix…..and our catch returns were very similar to me it proves once a bait is established you can drop the label
Kev I don’t think an EA flavour would emit a food signal there’s no food value to it…..and it wouldn’t be in your bait long enough unless you are casting every 10 mins
I use low levels in all my bait but you are right about the base mix doing all the work anyone using low value baits are making...
Fish don’t care what bait smells like otherwise we wouldn’t be using N butryic acid etc a smell is just a label ..that you would probably only need fishing the same stretch of river on a long campaign…otherwise you could use a decent base mix with no flavour and it wouldn’t make any difference...
Had two barbel seekers built by vic Gibson …..absolutely superb …if you are having them custom built at Johnson Ross state that you want vic to build them as they do use another rod builder now
