Those two swims are very prolific I know they shut them down for a week or two but they should shut them for a season the fish would then have to move from that area
This is a free spirit seeker 175 SU attached to a 13lb barbel they are a soft rod but I’ve never had any trouble stopping a barbel …. I had this custom built by Vic Gibson through Johnson ross
It’s the big central hub that the spokes are attached to that’s the problem I ended buying the 44” super specialist it’s a good little brolly

Pull the clear tube off and the black plastic part is hinged wrap it round your rod tip ( I put mine on the ferrul of the tip ring ) then replace clear rubber part insert isotope then wait for it to disappear round the corner of the reeds
I also don’t believe the noise affects them either in the past I have cast 5 - 6 times to get a certain spot only to have the rod rip round while I’m putting it in the rest
