    Narrow Drum Speedia

I did similar with a previous Speedia and it looked lovely. May do the same with this one, but it’s not too bad tbh.

    Narrow Drum Speedia

I’ve been fairly lucky so far on eBay. It is a gamble I guess, but good if you guess right.

    Narrow Drum Speedia

Cheers Hadyn, I will only use it to trot with so the ratchet will only be engaged when setting up/packing away/unhooking fish etc 👍🏻

    Narrow Drum Speedia

I took a punt on a narrow drum speedia on eBay this week. It was £47 with seconds left and I idly lobbed in a £48 bid and won (I’m so sorry if it was you on £47!) Anyway, the reel arrived today and, as expected, needed a bit of tlc. The seller claimed it hadn’t been used for forty years but ran...

    Chasing chub....

After a bit of a slow start, my season has settled into a nice groove and I’ve managed to catch (among smaller fish) 9 barbel and 40 chub to date. None of the barbel or chub have been massive, but the sport has been steady and really rewarding. All barbel and chub caught float fishing, with the...

    Light weight chair

I made a “strategic” purchase of a Tilley T3 for my holiday in Italy. The fact that it is olive coloured and will suit me just fine for fishing didn’t get mentioned to Mrs Rose at the time 😏

    Trudex reels

I think the Mk3 looks lovely in black 😍

    Trudex reels

Bringing it back to Trudex reels, I have an old Mk1 that is tatty and a bit wobbly, but it works well enough to roll meat. The Trudex Mk2 was a really nice reel in two sizes. The 2550 was 4.5” and 2500 4” with both 0.54” diameter drum. There was also a Rapidex Mk2 in both sizes. Now J. W. Young...
