    Tackle box Darent Valley rod

I bought the 13ft float rod, the attraction being it is two piece so i can carry it made up. I have used it for trotting for silver's and chub for which it performs well. Not sure if it has the power to control a barbel though. At the price you can't beat it.

    John Wilson Avons ££?

I picked one up on ebay for around £50. It's the one with the duplon top part of the handle, full cork below with a code number AQ1102. It was in great nick and had all three of the glass tips (a rarity) and the 2 foot extension to make it up to 13ft. I have seen the same rod with same code...

    Net bags

Involves another net purchase but latex nets are great and don't catch on every bramble on the bank.

    Mad baits Pandemic boilies

Chub love them especially large chub. Seem very similar to Complex T from Dynamite and Barbel Blitz from Hinders.

    EA Survey

This survey was sent out to selected recipients which I would imagine have been selected to give an fixed sample size and demographic range with a geographic spread. Whilst I appreciate we all want to help it could in fact skew the survey results if non selected recipients complete the survey...

    New Boots

I also run and Karrimor trainers get very poor reviews by runners. The "sale" prices sucker people in to what is essentially a low quality product which then turns out not to be a bargain. Old story....you get what you pay for. Muckboots Artic Sport is my footwear of choice in the winter...

    What hooks?

    But they are carp fishermen!

    Kelham hall

That is why it is worth joining a local club. It is an minimum hour drive for me but worth it for some really good stretches of the Trent.

    Kelham hall

The club I belong to have the opposite bank but it is not fished much as that bank is very steep. The deeper water is on the far side if fishing Kelham Hall so that is where you want to be. I would definitely advise getting your peg booked as there are only a limited number and if you turn up...

    What hooks?

Gardner Target Specimen Barbless. Best hook I have ever come across. So long as they keep making them I will not change.

    Float Rod Problem

I use Armour All on my floating fly lines and it certainly makes a difference. If it is safe on fly lines it should be ok on mono. It is used to treat car interiors so Halfords is your best source.

    Fish theft

Fish cannot be stolen from a river as they are deemed to be "wild and free to roam". Theft can only occur when a person or organisation's property is involved. There are by laws relating to the taking of fish (check EA website). These vary according to area. Clubs can have rules stating that...

It was reported at the beginning of the season that the first 10 pegs at the weir were solidly booked until November!

Yes the dates are 5th,6th & 7th October. Jerry is recovering from a 24hr session on the Don where he added a double from another river to his already impressive record. I have booked in and looking forward to it although I cannot get there until Saturday lunchtime.

    Cheap TFG barbel rods

I have the 2lb TC and it is an ideal flood rod. I would prefer double leg rings all through as I am a bit ham fisted with my rods but other than that it's a good rod and under priced for what it delivers.

Pallatrax Gripz hooks, plus other recs?

Gardner Target Specimen (barbless). Not sure of the size range but I only use 10 & 12. Very strong wire, keep their point, never had an issue so I am staying with these. A bit pricey (check Ebay sellers) but you won't be constantly changing them due to turned over points or cursing when a...

    Isotopes

I use the Enterprise Tackle night light holders with 2mm x 12mm isotopes but I do put a drop of superglue in to the little silicone sleeve as the isotopes are a bit expensive to lose! Although this size is very small and they are not as bright as the starlights I find them perfectly adequate...
