Temptation got the better of me in the tackle shop yesterday and I came home with a 15 footer.
Just need the conditions to use it now. I doubt it will see any barbel action this season but hopefully some chub once the rivers return to normal.
I have a Glide 12/14ft as a back up rod. At 14ft it feels very tip heavy.
If you are going for the 12ft then it's OK but nothing special.
The fact they are being knocked out at £40 must say something. Just looked on the BobCo website and only one left at £39.99.
I picked up a 13 footer yesterday and had a waggle with it and the tackle shop owner let me put a bend in it with him holding the tip. I did not have time to stay and put another one together. He has the 14 and 15's in stock and I am keen enough to go back when I have a bit more time later in...
I have a Cadence CS10 4000 which came with a rod in a combo deal from Cadence. The combo added only £30 to the retail price of the rod so I would consider it a bargain.
Like others I prefer a centrepin for trotting but when I need to overcome the need for a little more distance the CS10 is my...
Does anyone know if it is possible to repair a small tear in the neoprene part of a Muckboot? (Arctic Sport).
I caught it on some barbed wire hidden in undergrowth just where the neoprene joins the rubber foot section. Most of the time it is of no consequence but if i want to go a little way in...
I switched to Float Mono from Edge Tackle this season. I am using the 8lb BS which has a diameter of 0.22mm and I cannot fault it.

I bought the Trakker boot foot waders as my first pair of chesties. When I first used them I immediately realised the boot part was far too soft and the pressure of the wader actually becomes very uncomfortable after just a short time in the river. If wading slack water they are fine but any...
I have been using Edge Tackle Float Line in 8lb BS this season which has a remarkable resemblance to Gardner Hydroflo I have previously used and also Dave Harrell Float Line. I wonder if they are all the same stuff in differently branded packaging
Thanks for this recommendation. I ordered one from Angling Direct it arrived at breakfast time yesterday and shortly after lunch netted its first barbel. I put my rod in Richard (barbel magnet) Isaacs hand and first trot he caught one!
I am afraid this is another landing net post.....but with a difference. I am looking for recommendations for a landing net to use when wading.
My preference is to be able to stand in the river with the net slung over my shoulder which I can detach easily. It would also need to be of a...
Glad to hear Kevin has got sorted. I had a similar situation a few years back so I got on the phone and Drennan sent me the cap and a spare bush in the post the same day. I don't know what medium you used to contact Drennan but I think most of us are guilty of relying on email too much.
I have been using their wide gape hooks for a few seasons now and they are as good as similar (if not the same) at twice the price. I also like that I can buy the quantities I want and not in standard “10 in a pack“ retail offerings with excessive plastic packaging that tackle shops fill up...
The Free Spirit Hi-S power float rods are expensive but they are extremely good rods. I was fortunate to pick one up second hand at a good price but having used it for two seasons I would definitely not quibble about buying one at full price.
