Thanks for all the tips and recipes folks, very kind to divulge them. But that's not quite what I had in mind. To me, that is just using someone else's recipe to roll boilies. I'd want to make my own mix up from scratch, including mixing different flavours together. Hence the 6 pick and mix...
But which base mix, which flavour ?? It's very confusing.
I've got two base mixes, two lots of pick and mix flavours, salmon oil, krill extract and measuring stuff in my JB's basket at the moment. Comes to around £100. I don't use a kilo of boilies a season.
I just know that if I do have a go at making my own bait, I'll have to get all the kit and ingredients to do it, I always do that kind of thing. A kg of JBs base mix alone is the price of a kilo of boilies, then there is all the other stuff you need to flavour it. I think it would be a great...
Is it worth it ??
My Carp fishing friend is going to start making some hook baits for himself and it's got me thinking of having a go myself, but not really sure it's worth it though. I don't use many boilies a season. I'm already up to £100 in my basket on John Bakers website. Trouble is, I...
There was an interesting thread over on the Maggotdrowing forum a while ago about line strength. How some of the top commercial anglers were using fairly light lines for pellet waggler fishing. I seem to remember that Steve Ringer was quoted as to be using 5lbs on his rods. Reason being that it...
I've used an 11' 6" team Daiwa commercial pellet waggler rod, the XP model, with a dumpy waggler for Barbel on the Trent. Landed fish close to double no problem. Quite a nice rod to use TBH. Think it's got Daiwa ST 8lbs through it.
I've never seen Barbel spawning on the sections I fish, Neil. There aren't many area's suitable for it TBH, odd bits, but not many. We aren't allowed to be on the bank during the close season either (the club change the locks, allegedly) So no fish spotting or baiting up.
I'll miss it when I'm...
There is Barbel there, Neil. Not many and I just can't catch them. So for me, its money better spent elsewhere. Further downstream. 👍
I tried, but it didn't come off. Hey ho.
They weren't interested, Joe. Even though I'd followed the correct procedure with regards putting a motion forward, and receiving confirmation that it would be heard at the AGM, it wasn't even included on the agenda. I gave my side of the argument, but they just said that anyone could ask for a...
LOL. Well lets just say that the BMAA won't be having a river only ticket next season.
After looking at the Agenda when I first got there, I noticed my motion was missing from it. I had to have a word with the Secretary and Chairman and got them to add it to the agenda as it had been...
Hi @Andrew Burt
Just a thought, but could the 11grm float body be turned into a stubby waggler with the addition of plastic waggler insert, like this ?? Or even a small bit of Cane.
https://www.dbanglingsupplies.co.uk/plastic-insert-for-peacock-wagglers
or even better, an adjustable waggler...
Not a great year Barbel wise for me. Nothing again off the upper Trent, bar the usual Chub I seem to catch on every session. Fished the Dove once, and caught - you've guessed it - Chub. Moved further downstream on the Trent, and still caught Chub. An unintentional Pike PB whilst rolling meat was...
