Must have been that coating
The DNPS reel seats on my X1s chipped after a couple of sessions- mildly irritating but didn’t cost me any pike
I think Lumby changed to gunmetal on my baitblasters as they are fine
Had centres come of out Fuji rings , others have lasted for decades
I’ll swerve...
Interesting and not good.
I bought a pair of accurix on here, custom made and all that jazz. I noticed last time out one of the Vortex guides had bent quite severely. Considering it hasn’t seen a lot of use and is transported in a very durable padded sleeve , I wasn’t impressed.
It bent back ok...
MT put this reel seat on a torrix for me a few years ago
Very comfortable and screw down and think it was classed as a Combi? It’s not a Fuji reel seat but had a lot of rod hours and solid.
Agree bit of a shame if he’s getting away from custom builds
I use both 2lb Torrix and C3- both great rods
Don’t be mislead by the test curve on a C3
They’ll cast and retrieve heavy weights and you’ll have a proper tussle with barbel from 5lb upwards - they are certainly not a poker
Very useful piece of kit - takes up no room and casts like a bullet. I use a lot more than my larger spopper as that really needs a heavy rod to cast accurately, and I’m always trying to take less gear not more.
Wa
Good man. You take it easy.
Have you been watching that lad from your way on Youtube - Obsession for Angling?
OMG - what a season he had on the Trent piking - also had plenty of blanks which is why I like his channel - seems very honest.
Check it out , brilliant viewing.
Thanks Gav
That was certainly the impression we got last time we stayed
I’m really pleased for him and his family as they had it rough thru Covid
I’ll contact him and see what he says
Cheers
I think the advice from Rich is spot on. Have a chat with Mark T or any experienced rod builder and tell him exactly what you want to do. When I’ve done this I’ve ended up with rods that weren’t what I would order from the website, but nailed the brief perfectly
His dark carbon being one I would...
Sounds awesome Gav. Looks like it's back on form. We last went in 2022 and it was rock hard, i think we managed one fish between 2 of us over 5 days. Thanks for posting, I will share with my fishing partner and see if he fancies it.
I think twin tip/ multi tips are great in theory but in reality I keep all my rods made up so prior to a session, quick check of river levels /weather and I make an informed choice
I do use my Torrix tip rod a lot and invariably in summer it’s the 2ozspiced tip, winter 3oz push in and then back...
Hi
I think they would do the job- lovely rods
Just try them out and if you feel they’re costing you fish , consider trading up?
I use a Mk1 Armalite 2.25lb on a medium river with 3oz leads for barbel
It bends a lot but does the job and puts a smile on my face
I had a retro outing at the...
Summer & early Autumn river fishing was as good as I’ve known, but the late autumn /winter has been a write off with floods apart from the last few weeks which has been awesome as it is nearly every March
I’ve done a lot of pike fishing and again it’s been very hard all winter , with me only...
speak to a rod builder?
you’re venturing into pike rod territory if it’s an 8oz feeder + content
I use X1s for launching say a joey mackerel/ lamprey section and a 4-5 oz lead which will be a similar payload
That kind of weight loads the blank perfectly and they are a lovely rod to play fish...
Please believe me that I post only because I’m a very average angler who has lots of blanks but occasionally things go right
So if it can happen for me, it can for anyone
So to conclude the season I returned to the swim I lost several big fish in a week earlier.
I had been informed a 12 and a 10...
