    using old reels

    Still use my shimmy 5010 gts ,… they must be 30 years old. God only knows how many hours I’ve fished with them but they haven’t missed a beat in all those years. I always slacken off the clutch after each session,… bail arms are still strong. I was going to upgrade to the super baitrunner some...

    Hardy marksman supero barbel rods.....

    I love the Hardy S. 14 foot float. It’s my go-to trotting rod for chub and barbel on both D.Stour and HAvon. Subjective I know, but it retains both sensitivity and power,…. I had a dabble with the 15 footer but preferred the 14’ for some reason.

    Item of tackle you wish you hadn't sold.

    Drennan tench float mk2 for £50 to a mate donkeys years ago. He still likes to remind me that it’s his favourite rod.! It was a good trotting rod for barbel although I found the lower eye too close to the reel and it also felt a bit heavy,…., still regret selling it though.

    Korum Supalite River Brolly

    Took delivery of the Korum river brolly today,… as I feared, no storm pole attachments,… you know, .. the very same that are shown in the promotional guff. I’ve messaged customer service,.. so I’m awaiting a response. Given the design of the brolly ( which looks great I should mention),… I’d...

    Torrix 2lb

    Bob G. built me a torrix 1.75 / 2.0 twin tip some years ago. I tend to go to the 1.75 tc top section except during flood on Stour and Avon. Great rod.🙂

    A pic from the D.Stour taken a week ago. Levels have since continued to drop and these fish have moved to deeper runs. It’s actually raining here for the first time in weeks as I write this post,… hopefully we’re get more than a few showers .

    A few pics from home ground today. River is painfully low,…we badly need some rain in both Avon and Stour catchments.
