If you build the rod with top end Japanese carbon blank, like touray svf, with good fitting, the final rod price will over 400 or 500 at least. Take daiwa air z ags as an example, it’s not the latest/best daiwa blank, hvf is good but an old blank, but the finish rod is over 500
Yes, the carbon they use in Japan is not available in uk. But these whips are also extremely expensive. I managed to get a deal, but that still almost cost me more than 2 acolytes.
Only got 2 hours in the mid day yesterday, so decided to go to a swim close to the home, trotting under the tree line, but nothing over a pound, and the boat traffic is insane, almost every trott ended up with a boat coming.
I say that because I haven’t seen a factory build rod has better finish than hardy at that price range, I mean the original price. The better ones are more expensive or custom build.
I am waiting for the discount as well, but I guess it may not happen? Hardy sold the rods half price because...
Both Dave Coster and John Bailey left.
I am interested in these rods, but I wouldn’t pay that sort money for it. And I doubt it as good as hardy, maybe they have better blanks, but there’s no way they can match the fitting on hardy rods.
No, an Indian family. Saw them today, one man two women, 4 kids. I was in a rush so didn’t talk to them, but I suspect they are poaching as well, no fish care staff at all but a bucket and few plastic bag, very suspicious I think.
Where did you get the solid tips? I can only find them on guides and blanks.
I bought both glass and carbon tips, but yet to find the length matching the action. Still experimenting, a lots of cutting to do and time consuming as you said. And I am horrible with whipping. It’s easy to get it...
To do the spliced tip, you need to cut the blank at the point you want the tip in, and put the tip in the blank like those telescopic rod.
I am sure you can do 2oz spliced tip on Avon, Richard had his Avon build that way.
