Funny you asked, I use Ray Walton for float pike fishing with 2lb 6ft scope rod, because I can’t wallies cast well with a rod that short. Worked well for me last season.
The casting position is very secure, I think it kind of locked in that position. Although I never tried to leave the reel...
I used 850, 1000 and 4000d on my 11ft 1.75lb torrix, the 4000d is perfect match. Since 2lb and 1.75lb torrix only differs in tip section, I think you will find 4000d matches it well.
I have both 850 and 1000, and I prefer 850 on my 11ft rod. The 1000 doesn’t feel bad, but 850 just feel right on it.
But looking at current price of these reels, I’d probably go for a shimano 4000, no matter it is d or thunnus.
When in fast water, you may require 8 or 10g lead, and the rods needs to be strong enough to against the flow as well.
Same why we use high tc rods in flood conditions.
Oh, yeah, they do a lot of spare meshes. I thought you mean you can choose the mesh when you buy the nets. You can build your own nets with all the components they sell.
I remember these nets are very good, finally drennan decided to relaunches them.
Looking at the images, it seems to me that the new one is a lot narrower than the old model?
