Glad to see people are catching a few of the red eyed wonders. On my ticket I'm fishing a place on Hayling island very close to the sea which apparently has some clonkers in there. I've generally been targeting the carp or bream really when there but wondered if anyone here had ventured to Sinah and done any good?

A mate fishes Sinah fairly regularly Carl, he’s had them to nearly 8lb but the bream can be a pain

Had my first two tench sessions of the season on a small local club lake. On both mornings the frost warning light was on in the car. Fished float close in with maggot. Nothing happened for so time but once the sun was up and I started getting a few roach. I was close to packing up and thought no tench today when a bite resulted in small fish of about three pounds. The next session again started with the frost warning light illuminated. Float fished again but with worm on the hook. When the sun got up it was positively hot and I had the lake to myself. My float sat stationary in the swim so decided to reel in and take a walk and in a shallow corner of the lake I sat and watched up to 20 carp basking in the sun. Returned to my swim to give it a last hour and thought this is going to be a blank when the float went under and a similar size tench resulted. A very pale fish. Both fish were in excellent condition.

I got the monkey off my back yesterday with my first Tench in 4 sessions. Was pleased to see them rolling at first light so set up in front of them. Quite a hard frost and a cold wind soon had them disappear and i sat watching motionless bobbins for 8 hours. I left the rods in while i was packing up and with the last rod still in i had a screamer which ended up a 6.2 Tench.
The odd warm day last month made me start a few weeks early as the last 2 sessions have felt like winter again but i’m glad i did as i’ve learned a lot in the few sessions i’ve had and it’s knocked the rust off gained by 6 months of Piking so i feel ready for the season ahead.
