Hello all
I've just joined, I'm looking to connect with anglers with experience of French rivers in pursuit of our beloved Barbel.
I've been mainly fishing Yorkshire rivers over the last few years chasing Barbel ,Chub et al (odd foray onto the Wye and Severn aside). I do also venture further afield when looking to get my string pulled from a toothy Esox ,Wels Catfish. Recently Norwegian Halibut and its salty friends too. I'll lure fish , float fish , feeder , spin and fly .......what takes my fancy really.
So, the ask.........................
I have a 3 week trip around France penciled in for May, my Barbel rods will be stashed in my campervan. (I may sneak a pike rod in too but that is a separate challenge ) The first part of the trip will be down through the Ardennes region and heading to Alsace . Highly likely we will head across to the Loire valley too before heading home .
The first rivers that spring to mind are:-
-Meuse
-ill
-Sauer
Other recommendations ? I'm not necessarily looking for lumps, consistent sport would be great.
Any advice would be gratefully received for general starting points near to camping spots / Aires. Public fishing or day ticket perhaps?
I would also appreciate some guidance on carte de peche. It looks like id need a 12 month licence to cover 3 weeks. Is this regional or national.
To the potential Forum ' bouncers and Golems'
. Yes, I will be trawling the archives too to see where these questions have cropped up before, Thanks for the advice in advance.
Warm regards
