Let’s hope whoever is leading the BAA now will listen to its members and will make a start by improving the access tracks to some of its waters. I had problems at both Marlcliff and Grimley where deep ruts in the access tracks have not been repaired in years.

Not ventured to Mythe yet Graham?

That is a whole new experience of ruts deeper than wheel heights.

No thanks, damaged my ‘ undertray’ at Grimley even when I was taking care……it hasn’t been touched in over 20 years of ‘ traffic’ as far as I can see. I imagine a 4 x 4 would be okay but I can only imagine ‘ er indoors’ reply if I insisted my Audi had to be changed simply to accommodate the BAA access tracks.
Happy New Year to you btw
Best of luck in the New Year.👍

I've got a Q5 Quattro Graham. It's horrific access.

Are Avon stretches even worth the cost of improving the access tracks?

Take Marcliff for example, I see very little coming out and match reports from around this stretch always look poor?

There's probably more to improve across all their venues than the organisation can afford?

Hi Mark,
I haven’t fished here enough recently to judge the returns but it’s a sad reflection on the river if you can’t catch here. I used to return here for a ‘ confidence booster’ if I was struggling elsewhere.

I haven't renewed by BAA License after the fish kill on 2023.

I was walking the river (June 16th) at Wasperton - the LAA section was closed (along with every other club locally) but BAA still stayed open.

There was one guy fishing and the Bailiff was with him. Dead fish everywhere and the stench was rancid.

I had a chat with them and then asked politely "why are we still open when everywhere else is shut" to which the response was "we want to track what's being caught".

I replied "I can tell you you're not likely to catch anything and what you do catch you probably don't want to be handling".

The Bailiff then starting questioning me why I was on the river if I wasn't fishing and where my license was (which I didnt have on me) and rod license.
