Roving waders

I know this topic has been covered before but would just like to know people’s thoughts and reviews now after possibly purchasing and using certain waders .

I’m after a wader for winter roving on the wye.
I will only be using them through the winter months and covering a lot of ground and walking through a fair bit of harsh brash .

I’ve just retired a pair of kylebooker sock foot waders after discovering a couple of good leaks after they’ve been repaired multiple times . As comfortable and as cool as they kept me ( were ideal summer wading chestys) they are just to fragile for what I’m after .
The ones I’ve seen that may be suitable are the Daiwa hybrid waders with neoprene bottom half with fitted boot then a breathable top half .
As I said I’ll be covering a lot of ground and rough ground at times so don’t want to be sweating but also don’t want to be walking around with wet feet ( again ) from punctured waders .
Any recommendations would be great , cheers 🤙

These may be of interest to you Jack.....

They may cope better than most with what you describe due to being 5 layer bottoms.
Tom Casey has a set for sale on bfw which are brand new and unused due to him getting the wrong size.
I know he got another set that fit him now lol. I have a set myself but am yet to actually use them as I am still using my old set.
I know a few people who have them and are very happy with them, but I know one gentleman who had issues with his but had them replaced.

Have a look at the Ollyskins website, lots of options. Ive got their neoprene thigh waders and impressed so far but only in their first season so time will tell as always.

I won't risk my breathable waders when there are brambles, gorse, blackthorn and hawthorn about. Most of the time I use Skellerup safety waders. I find that the stiffened underfoot shanks reduce achy feet when walking/wading on rocky riverbeds. The steel toecap also helps to reduce the numbing effects of water pressure when standing in water for long periods. I've been using them for a couple of years now and will buy another pair when the time comes.

I bought the Daiwa Hybrid chest waders online from Angling Active a month ago cost £120 inc of P& P and have worn them about six times and so far no problems
I also have a very expensive set of Orvis Pro Chest waders and Orvis boots which are great but I don't use very often as I find it a bit of a faff having to put on the waders without getting the sock foot covered in mud and then messing around putting the boots on. Although they are less weight than the Hybrids and so when I do use them it's normally in warmer conditions.

5 Layer stocking foot with decent boots definitely the best option if you're scrambling about - the Kinetic X5 gets good reviews - good value if purchased from Waveinn or similar even with the postage cost
