What 15ft rod for grayling

Mike Davidson fishes the Scottish rivers and uses the 17ft Acolyte Specimen to catch 2lb and 3lb grayling (and bigger trout!). The size of fish and pace of water determines his choice. Read about it on the Drennan website. I also have used the 17ft Acolyte Specimen and although a little nose heavy at that length it is a rod you can trot with all day.

How does the preston compare to the acolyte specimen?
I can’t say about the 13 or 14 ft acolytes as I’ve not had any time fishing with those but compared to the 15ft acolyte specimen i would say the actions are very similar both are very strong capable rods and the acolyte has a little more stiffness in the middle to lower. I would say the tips are quite soft on both but because the acolytes mid to lower is stiffer than the Preston i would describe the action of the acolytes to be fast and the Preston medium fast.

I’ve caught good barbel on both in fast flows and i would say they are equally capable rods with a hint of softness or stiffness (depending on the rod) separating them.
