can anyone reccomend a good tangle free and abrasion resistant braid hooklengh. I know I'm looking for miracles maybe but if you don't ask etc.
Cheers

Everyone will tell you their preferred choice and there are so many out there.
I've tried most and for the last few years I've been using Atomic jel-e-wyre soft.
Its a coated braid which is extremely strong and yet when peeled back is very supple.
Very easy to tie knots.
Having barbel fished for over 40 years I doubt I will ever find better.

I would echo JM’s thoughts - a coated braid is more abrasion resistant and Jelewyre is good stuff.

For ‘real’ braid either Gardner Trickster or Bank Tackle Kevlar infused. The latter is a reasonable price….

Uncoated ; I use Korda supernatural. I find it alright.
Coated ; Bank tackle semi stiff, Nash sink link and another one I can't remember.

I won't use Fox anymore after having some of their 14lb braid break at 7lb. Lost two good fish on that before I tested it and then threw it away.

Coated, or uncoated?
Flowing water?, if so I won't use uncoated unless I knew my rig had settled perfectly?.
Un coated braid, will flutter in the flow and has a mind of its own, not really suited to river work.
I fish the trent and it's quite varied, deep glides, shallow riffles, it has it all!
Imo it's better to use coated braid to suite the river.
Better to use a coated braid , be it soft semi or stiff.
I personally use soft coated, I .e .
Gardner soft skin for when I want it pinned down as it takes rig putty well ,and fox camotex for general work.
There are a few others I use for more specific work.
But that's a whole new topic.
Best to try a few to find what works for you 😉

looked at both of these

Thanks for all your replies chaps, I did decide to try the bank tackle kevlar infused braid and it's now on order, I do use coated braid and have done for several years now but only if I feel the swim warrants it and I use the kodex micro strip which is sadly not available anymore but have still got a spool or three in the drawer yet, anyway much obliged for your help.
