I wouldn't expect anyone to cast that weight on a 1.5lb rodI wouldn’t want to cast a 6 or 8 oz lead with a1.5 test rod……
Try fishing a big river when it is bank high.
PS I’m old enough to remember when standard carp rods were 1.75 test. They worked just fine with 1.5 or 2oz leads.
Would these rods be suitable for the tidal Trent as it seems 2.0 2.5 tc are the favourite rods for that river ?I have 2 Daiwa infinity 1.75 Barbel Special rods that I will be advertising soon.

Hi yes I have been looking at cadence which are nice rods , I’m looking at the 2.0tcHave a look at cadence designed by des taylor good price they do 1.75
2.00.
2.5
3.00 all 12 ft have a look
Ian posts uses 2.00 on trent
2.5 on tidal will cast 6. Oz
He fishes all season no probs
Catches 100s of barbel a season

That depends on river water levels and if there is any extra water on after rain.I see would that be in summer conditions too ?
