Any thoughts on rod rings for a custom 11' torrix?

I'm thinking about getting some torrix built up and I want to specify the rings properly. I'm currently thinking of fuji K series alconite with double legged on the butt section and single legged on the top section. Are they anti-frap?

Anything else that I should consider (what size for the biggest guide for example)?
Is that sufficient information for the rod builder?

Recommendations for builders to use (or perhaps avoid via PM) also greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for any input!

I like the Fuji K series rings and the Fuji KR theory behind ring size and spacing is interesting. Although I’m not sure it is fully applicable to the UK style of fishing. I like the quick reduction train and being able to match to the first rings to the intended reel size with their high medium and low guides. But for the tip section I space the rings by eye on a loaded rod rather than have many small rings.
If I was spending the sort of money a Torrix blank costs I would use Fuji K type, strong reliable and look good. (But those pac bay minima guides are interesting, cannot commit to the pac bay tip rings yet though.)
If you intend to use the rod with a centrepin in the traditional sense rather than the rotating reel foot type, I guess the diameter of the first rings would be far less important because the line won’t be coming off in coils.

Minimas all the way, as I've said in past posts, 30 percent lighter, braid and mono safe and stronger than most guides, all my torrix and chimeras have been built with the black shadow minimas, can't praise them enough really!

Could you clarify for me as Im interested in the minima rings, do you like the Minima tip rings as well as the guides? Also do you use the single leg rings, the two legged or a mixture. I have used just the single leg minima guides on one rod and I was concerned the large single leg guide I have used as a butt ring, seems a little lightly built. I have no such concerns with the large Fuji single leg K type guides.
I have just brought a set of minima guides for a rebuild of another rod of mine. This will be infrequently used so I’m happy to use them to try them out, but it is good to hear you have confidence in them.

Yes Ralph, on my lighter 11ft torrix s and chimeras I have 1double then 6 single guides and tip.
On my 12ft 2.5 torrix both butt and second are double legged then again 5 single and the tip.
Even with anti frap tips the line can still catch and bend the guides, I've been using them for 2 years now and haven't had any issues.
If you need more and better information, give Graham a call at buzzard rods, as he is an advocate.

Thanks Jim,
I brought the rings from buzzard rods but it’s always good to get another opinion.

Graham, is using the high stand off minimas on his 2piece 13ft exclusive float rods.
I think minimas are now the way forward. And will be more widely used by rod builders old and new.

For me most of my rod collection has been built by Mark Tunley who sets high standards. Have a few peregrine rods from Roger too.
My recent Torrix's 12/11' 1.75's are being built with Kigan 3D 25mm set.

My recent decision to get anything I wanted built, was mainly due to Hopkins closing down, and didn't want the regret not having things built when I could of done. Added to that we don't know how long these rod builders are wanting to continue their trade.
