New Normark Rods

According to the AT instagram page, there are some new Normark rods about to be released. Does anyone have any further info?
They are at the big one show this weekend

Not a vast amount of information has been given on them. I’ve picked up more information from a friend that has been testing them out in summer. Very positive stuff only so far.

Ive being told its high end Japanese carbon cloth. I don’t know where they are made though. Fuji rings Fuji seat and I’ve heard they have great actions and antilock qualities.

For me the downside is the lengths
I wouldn’t be interested in buying a set of 3 but I’d probably look at a 14ft avenger very seriously. Preferably I’d want 15ft but that’s not on offer at the moment.

Very positive from people at big one on normark fb page.

The rod is made in far east but China, so I am guessing South Korean.

Made in china is absolutely nothing to worry about whatsoever. Acolytes are made there and I’m pretty sure so are these new Preston top tier rods aswell. If the QC is nailed on then the Chinese will build a hell of a rod.

However I’ve recently been told my intention of a 14ft avenger is not going to happen.
The range of rods is diabolical really.
12ft mic
13ft all 3
12-14ft titan and avenger.
Shame really as they look and sound superb.

That’s my interest just dropped straight through the floor. Absolutely useless lengths to my fishing. Missed a huge trick there and a massive chunk of market for guys like me that want a long rod for trotting is going to buy something else.

It’s almost as if they’ve catered for waders and wagglers only with a multi length thrown in as an afterthought for those that might want to trot from a bank.

I wish him good luck but there’s nothing there for me to throw 300 quid at.
Maybe that’s going to come. I will keep an eye out

I hope they do a 15ft average in the future. And I truly wish they will do a 11ft microlite, that can be great for the small stream fishing.

I am not sure yet, but maybe I will get a 13ft titan for some roach and chub trotting.

PS, I think acolyte is made in Africa in drennan’s own factory?

Yes it truly is
I have one of the only 11ft mics in the country and it really is an amazing rod on becks and streams.
I had 2 chub out on it the other day about 3lb each. My god they are great fun on that little wand

Nevertheless, country of manufacture isn’t something that would bother me at all
Not from QC perspective certainly. China can produce some quality products.

The big issue what I gather from someone high up in the tackle retail sector is that some of the working conditions in tackle manufacturing factories in the far east are truly deplorable.

My understanding is that of all the major tackle companies, Drennan stand out as genuinely giving a shit about the working conditions in the plants making their tackle and are willing to pay more to make sure people are being fairly treated.

I'm not bothered at all where any rods come from; as long as they are superb, I don't really care. Whatever happens in their country is nothing do with us. We all.know what happens when we do..... Anyway, I have seen pictures of the Normark booklet from a far... anyone have any better pics, so I don't have to get my magnifying glass out...

Sadly, I think anglers and non-anglers are in the same predicament when it comes to goods made in China, in that working conditions in most factories are dreadful. So, do you stand on your moral high ground and say I'm not going to buy that rod, reel, fridge, TV, car, shirt, laptop etc etc (everything is made in China!) or just accept it as the way the world is.
I would like to think that responsible companies actually check conditions in Chinese factories. Most of my fishing gear is from the well known brands and I guess they DO check on the welfare of workers, but who knows??

From what I was told, no. Drennan being the exeption apparently.

It is a minefield though, and very difficult to audit I imagine.

Yes, very difficult to audit as you say Joe.
Nice to hear that Drennan may do checks as I like their stuff anyway.
Not too sure about Temu though!! 😫

i picked the titan and avenger up today , i liked the look, feel of them . may get one when there available. I had original titans years ago and loved them .

Hardy we're using Suho corporation for their fly rod blanks in China 20 years ago. John Wilson and Bruce Vaughan went to them for the original J W Young blanks too, (wooden reel seat versions).

Just lifted off the Facebook page... The other image with printed details is to small to read...
