Drennan Specialist landing net handle EUREKA moment

I have both , need arms like Popeye to use the Gardner one !
The Drennan is much easier to use and I’ve never had a problem with mine apart from losing the end cap ( user error)

I have a couple of these landing net poles (compact 2M and 3M) - there's only two rules with them

a) Never overtighten / keep mud and grit free
b) Ring up Drennan and ask for some spare collets - I was sent three spares so have two in reserve!

I too like Kevin ground off 3mm from the top of the collet maybe twelve months ago still working perfect the main problem with this handle is caused by people over tightening them, my mate has the gardner one and is a lot heavier and thicker and in my opinion not as good but hey ho whatever turns you on.
Matron!

I've had a couple of the Drennan 3m handles..They've both lasted many many years, I couldn't even tell you how long I've had the last one for, and is still working perfectly fine.
I bought a Gardner XL 4m one a couple of years ago for a stretch of river with very high banks. Don't get me wrong, before the Drennan I used for a number of years and have still got an original Trefor West Power Stretch handle, which anyone who lnows them wlll say they're sturdy to say the least, but I just can't get on with the Gardner, it, just feels so cumbersome and heavy compared to having used the Drennan for so long.
Anyway, as a result I've today, bought a Twistlock Long Reach 3.5m pole😃

Whilst the Drennan one is lighter, I really can’t say I’ve ever picked up the Gardner and thought “it’s a bit heavy” it’s not like it’s made from scaffold pole.

I picked one (Gardner) up in a shop a few months ago (after over-tightening my Drennan) and 'sledgehammer to crack a nut' came to mind. I've got arms like Popeye, but it just felt clumsy. Glad I stuck with the Drennan. My two best fishing buddies also have one.
