Just seen Andy post this on facebook as know they’re popular on here

I have been given the opportunity to get my hands on some 10’6” blanks similar to the blanks I used for my Teme rods (Dave Mason rods). What I need to do is find out if there is enough interest in them for it to be worth my while bringing some in or will I be left with a load of blanks taking up space in the workshop. Please post on here or DM me or contact me by email. Thanks 🙏

Wouldn't be at all surprised if they come in around £350—400 sort of range. They were a popular rod back in the day, & I didn't take up the opportunity when Dave Mason 1st had them back when we were part of Teme Severn baits.

I beleive they won't be build on the same blank as the originals, but I'm sure more info will surface once he knows the numbers involved. 👍

Hi Neil, it possible to describe the action of the blank please. I have never seen the rod or the Teme, I don’t even know where it is!
I know describing the action of a blank is a big ask since everyone’s interpretation of action is different. But at the moment I don’t know if it is a brute of a rod or a delicate thing. If you have a rough test curve and can say it’s a fast action medium fast or through to the butt like an Avon.
If the test curve is overly influenced by a soft tip section (I know the test curve is very misleading) so if the test curve is light but the rod behaves more powerfully, like rods with spliced in glass quivers, could you let me know.
I know it’s a big ask and everyone else who has one will disagree with your description but I’ve never encountered one.

It’s a progressive medium to through actioned rod with a test curve of around 1.25-1.5lb but I can measure this accurately later on for you. To put some numbers on it, i would give it a line rating of 5-10lb and a max casting load of 2oz

I messaged Andy last night upon reserving me a couple of blanks. I was interested if they were around the 1.25 rating.

He was decent enough to mention this little snippet of info, which I will add at the bottom of the post.

It's early days still, and until he sees them in person I guess we won't know more at this stage. I wonder if they're a blend of materials on this blank?

I was kinda hoping for a rod that will cover my close quarter near bank fishing, coupled with centrepin at that length that sounds perfect.👍

As Richard said the action is certainly progressive, imagine a very uprated Avon. Not the rod for shy bites, more of a tool for taming Barbel in a smaller snaggy river. Remember it's only 10.6 long so great for confined swims. Dave Mason described it as a rod that will stop anything in the river.
I use it as a tip down rod close in...it would be great rod for 'pin enthusiasts.
The test curve was never stated, but I would guess c. 1.6lb but will see.

Yeah, 1.25 is what Andy said. But it means nothing really, remember torrix 1.25 is stronger than the 1.5?
 
I’ve just measured the test curve on my sons rod and that was a perfect 90° at 1lb 5oz
It’s definitely more medium action than through. The back end is quite steely and the tip to the half way point relatively soft
Half a pound takes up 75% of the test curve

Thanks, I did think 1.25 was too light. As you say more medium action then with some good stopping power.low down. I use 10 lb rated line which is seemingly justified.
 
I always thought the torrix 11ft 1.75lb tc was the best barbel rod I’ve ever used untill I hooked into some mega size barbel in snag hook and hold situations with my Dave mason rod it literally can handle any barbel that swims it’s a shame there so rare now as I’m sure there are lots of good anglers that would snap these little 10ft 6 gems 👌
