Centre pin protective pouch

Looking for a recommendation please guys.

Protective pouches/covers for 41/2" centre pins.

The reels won't be left on the rods but chucked into a rucksack after use.

Thank-you.

I use these ones from an eBayer, great either on or off the rod. I’ll dig out the link and post it.

For that purpoes I would suggest you to wrap the reel in a soft cloth and place into a suitably sized plastic maggot container.
I have loads of reel cases, but I much prefer the protection of the cloth and maggot box.

Those wrap over or even zip up cases won't stop your reel being crushed in a tackle bag.

IMO the better wrap over type reel covers/cases are the neoprene types like the okuma pouches which come with the okuma reels.

If on the rod, jw young neoprene reel pouch, I found it is better than the mill tackle one as the reel has less space to move and the neoprene is thicker than the padding of mill tackle’s pouch.

Off the rod, very rare, but when I have to, the reel first in the pouch, and same as Ian, I put it in a suitable sized box.

I like Ian and Huanzhou's idea off the rod in a strong box to prevent crushing. On the rod I have made some bubble wrap covers that fit inside the reel pouch and the reel fits inside them to provide additional protection BUT you made need a larger size wrap over pouch to accommodate the bubble wrap. The whole rod / reel combination then goes inside a padded rod sleeve for as much protection as possible.

I’ve had both and the ones from Cotswold are a lot better and the material a lot thicker and more durable than the neoprene ones.
