Browns Angling Closing Down

Hi men

I'm gutted as a regular. It was run by anglers who give honest views , often changing my mind on some tackle choices and knew lots of local and not so local venues . Lots of time just went in for a chat , they even stored bait for me in their freezers 😉. Big lose for sure 🫤

Used to go in there quite a bit when I was working in the area, it was the bane of my wallet's life!
Top shop and doubtless will be a great loss to local anglers.

Think the writing was on the wall for Browns when they shut the Haddenham store followed a little while later by the small Daventry store a real shame. Not a lot of choice in the area now AD or nothing really. Johnson Ross will be my nearest decent all round shop now

Always thought it a bit strange that you could grab a few leads in one side of the shop, then if you fancied a John Deere tractor in the other, you were sorted there too.

Gutted as it’s my local, there’s one other nearby else if I want maggots it’s a 35 mile trip into Milton Keynes and AD

To give a bit of background, my mate who is closer things than I am posted the following on another forum. Chat on the forum was that shops like AD had killed Browns. It seems that isn't the case:

In this case it’s nothing to do with foot fall. The shop is busy. It’s unfortunately due to a bit of a weird set up where the business was divided up amongst the family and the ones that don’t have any active part want their money out. The only way to pay them is to sell off the big chunk of land that the business sits on and relocate the agricultural stuff to other existing locations or much smaller premises. As you know that’s a big tackle shop so it can’t really be squeezed in to a smaller shop somewhere else and rent on a unit that size would be horrendous. Such a shame. It’s a brilliant shop with brilliant staff.
