New custom Torrix finished.

White on its own is quite difficult to see against a cloudy sky being reflected off the water. White stripes on a black background works very well and doesn’t mess with your peripheral vision
White and orange is very good and visible on most backgrounds too
If you want to try white, but are not sure about it and don’t want the permanance of paint, just wrap plumbers PTFE tape round the tip and see how you feel about it. It stays on well if put on tightly, but comes off easy when you want it to.

I also don't like the permanence of paint. The PTFE tape sounds like a plan👍.

Love a bit of Rod Porn of a morning Martin - Torrix 2.25 also my river weapons of choice; very versatile and not just big / heavy water rods IMO

Also have Aviators in my Harrison collection - if they are 12' Aviator Plus how are you getting on with them? I hate mine and am just about to chop them in for a set of 13' Aviator Plus which are allegedly (and hopefully) different gravy . . .!

I especially like the machined anodized collars infront of the cork that’s a nice little detail
The orange whippings look well too but I’d of definitely had isotopes fitted while he was doing them
Yeah mate, the collars are very nice.

I absolutely love the white tip and orange whipping, not seen it done elsewhere and it's a lovely touch.

Didn't even consider isotopes, which has annoyed me as I remember seeing yours and thought I'd get them next time but completely forgot.

Guess you are fishing the lower or tidel Thames? 12ft 2.25 is what I use when the upper Thames is flooded.
Will be the upper mate. After a lot of research I found out that a lot of people think these aren't over gunned even for general, summer level use.

I wanted a pair of rods so thought I'd get these as they will cover all situations when I want to use 2 rods but will always use my 11ft 1.75 if I can get away with it.

"Horses for courses" I recently paid to have white tips removed from a pair of Harrison rods, hate them 😏
Yeah I get that, very much personal preference.
I would say though that plain white I found almost useless. But with the orange, and I'm sure other colours would work as I think it's more about breaking the white up, it works very well for its intended purpose.

Mine are the 12'6" mate and I absolutely love them, although not used them a great deal, only casting about 50 yards. I did have 3 carp on them, 2 over 30lb up to 38lb and they were beautiful to play fish on.
They replaced my 12'6" Torrix TE and I wanted something very similar so was recommended the Aviators.

Interestingly I had 12' 3.5lb Torrix and absolutely hated them. The extra 6 inches changed the whole rod. I have no idea why such a small change could make such a difference but it did. And I don't like 13' rods so the 12'6" are perfect for me. So much so I'd never but anything else again.

@Chris Belcher where are you based mate? Hampshire Tackle have a load of demo rods made up for people to test before you buy. If your not a million miles away might be worth considering.

Bought the Aviators as 'semi-range' rods but find the casting window on the 12's ridiculously small - timing needs to be bang on to get anything out of them and I'm too bang average to achieve this. . .have heard 12'6" are significantly better but I need at least one chucking set up so was going to go for the 13's (I've had 13's before and am fine with them) . . . .

If you like Aviators the 10' 3.25 are an awesome rod - use these more than any other (for carp fishing) these days . . .
