Wanted: Daiwa SS1600

I don't know why you are so passionate about the oc or unmentioned d bait runner, I'm just a simple Joiner , but I don't need to know any mechanics to know that the gearing is better in the thunnus, also lighter in weight.
Win win for a few quid more!

Over the last few years i have given myself the luxury of having a complete set up for every type of fishing i do. I have a rucksack & rod bag/quiver for each set up that is ready to go with everything needed. Pleasure, barbel, general specimen, Perch, Pike & trotting. Whatever i fancy doing, i just grab a set up & go as i was fed up of chopping & changing for what i was doing that week. On top of that i have 30+ rods, 20+ reels etc. everything i own is quality (imho) & does the job well but there is a limit to how much i want to spend!
I buy stuff that will do the job well, will last & i like. I’ve no doubt that there is ‘better’ gear out there than what i have. There is certainly more expensive gear out there but where do you stop?
I’ve made the mistake of buying cheap & replacing but i’ve also spent silly amounts and been disappointed!

It’s not afew quid more it’s almost double the price and if you put them both on the scales you’ll find there is nothing in it and the whole thunnus is light weight thing is total nonsense because what they saved in body material they added in steel with extra bearings.
I’ve got thunnuss they are great but they are not in everyone’s budget and the OC for the money is brilliant. You obviously get your information from the back of the box Jim rather than fishing and putting them to use because the only noticeable difference between them in your hand is the clutch.
The clutch on the thunnus is smoother due to it’s design but the one on the OC is still excellent and I’d recommend the OC to anyone as a fantastic budget friendly solid reel.

There's only 20g difference in the 4000 size. The OC D and Thunnus are all top baitrunners and are still around unlike other Shimano's that have been discontinued.Solid reels.
