10 mins drive from Aldwark there is day ticket available on the Ouse at Newton on Ouse [ Newton AC water Cherryfields stretch ] . Go in to village up the main street[ Cherry tree lane ] towards the north entrance of Beningbrough Hall and as you reach the hall gatehouse there is a track to right walk 25yards down there and there is an honesty box on the gate £5 per day no night fishing , plenty of Barbel on that stretch . You should park on the grass verge in the back lane behind the Blacksmiths arms [ signed parking area] and walk to the entrance where the ticket box is ,[ walk south up back lane , right down sills lane and then left up cherry tree avenue to hall entrance ].Its approx 5 mins walk from car park to fishery entrance gate where you get your ticket and enter the fishery. Immediately downstream from this stretch is a long stretch of the Ouse run by York and district amalgamation of anglers , available on day ticket , go on YDAA website for details , you can buy a day ticket online, again good Barbel fishing there but on YDAA stretch it is a good 10 mins walk from parking areas , best to park on the concrete parking area to left of south entrance of Beningbrough Hall and walk down to river through path in the wood , approx 10 mins walk and brings you to mid area of YDAA stretches fishing both up and downstream from this access point , no night fishing on day ticket
