Paste and boilie soaks

Seen a lot of talk about how effective the above are.

Question for you all, do you buy the soaks/ paste or make your own?

If the latter, any tips appreciated!

Jake

I used to grind halibut pellets or boilies in a coffee grinder, sieve, grind, sieve, grind ...then add a flavour to mirror my bait's flavour. Now I tend to buy Elips Paste (£7/300g, with multi-buy offer available) and flavour that. If you want to stiffen the paste after flavouring it then gluten flour or Xanthan Gum can be added. If you want to dilute a flavour to soak baits in then you could try hemp oil (e.g. Sainsbury's 'Good Hemp Oil') as a soak base.
Just have a play 😉

I make my own but have to be honest and think that they don't offer any edge unless used as a much deeper level bait soak, increasing it's longevity.

I make my own also, I use a cheap basemix and then add what I want to that. For shop bought ones, I like the sticky baits krill, it comes in a little pot and lasts quite a while.

Make my own, my paste is all the steps used to make boilies but I don’t boil, add some crushed hemp and hemp or salmon oil into it before mixing.

For a glug it’s just glycerine, cornflour, flavouring and colouring.

These days I use bought frozen bait and matching glug /soak. If I use added paste it is simply matching base mix mixed with said glug.

Haven’t made boilies before, how difficult?

Relatively easy, initially it can be a bit of an outlay cash wise, John baker baits do both hook bait and paste mixes all you do is add eggs and flavour etc, i wouldn’t say it was cheap but it’s a decent first step to learning.

Be warned though in a lot of cases it’s an outside practice and the smell in a woman’s kitchen doesn’t go down well 😂

For me paste from halli pellets dipped in glug on the hair. Whatever glug is of no matter really imo. Just soak small pellets in water that just covers pellets and mould..
