Drennan roving bag alternative

Hi folks anyone found a good alternative to the above. Mine has come unstitched after relatively little use. Would prefer something which will accommodate an unhooking Matt in some way.

I use the drennan roving bag, but thinking of replacing it with this one now.

I use my Korda Compac 45 litre rucksack (for everything) - it's more comfortable than a shoulder bag, IMO. It has loops on top for an unhooking mat. I don't feel the need to buy anything smaller specifically for roving - if I'm going light, I just don't fill it.

Have to agree nice fit and comfy if you put a bit of gear in it

Haven’t seen that one but it looks very good indeed.
I bought the small day pack some time ago as a little rover bag and yes I like it but i always wished it was the same size but ruckbag style.
£38 I’ll be ordering one of those i reckon cheers

As one recently and was impressed…like a mini ruckbag and ideal for roving sessions. Has a side handle too according to the pics online but I can’t remember seeing that on the one I saw but might have missed it

I love the Drennan roving bag, but the zips have gone biggidy-bong on mine 😞 I bought a Drennan specialist rucksack (old style) cos it has clips, not zips. The Greys cooler bag is a really nice one if you can find it.

Why do they have to be so expensive?!

the Only 2 flaws with my day pack are its top opening and doesn’t have a chest strap.
They’ve rectified both those bits on this which is really nice. I have the rucksack and the smaller rucksack too and they are great but for a 3 hour blast in the evening you just don’t need it.
Tackle box, 1 egg mix, salt n vinegar squares and a spopper. Job done.

I’ll get one of those ordered up.

I want a small ruckbag for a while, so much easier to find staff, especially in the night. The Nash scope recon bag is also a good one, but more expensive and it doesn’t compatible with the fast matt.

If you know someone that's a dab hand with a needle and thread, they can be resurrected. The zip on mine started to come away (zip teeth from fabric band that they are heat welded to) so I bought a spare. I promptly forgot that I'd bought a spare:oops:. By the time the failing zip got really irritating, I bought a(nother) replacement. However, a bit of fine needlework has seen me get another year out of the original and it's still going strong. I've now got the original and two spares. I wish I had another couple of spare Greys Prodigy On The Move Bags.

Good call I will order one. I have a larger Korum ruckbag old style and it’s excellent. Also order to be able to Lie it flat, several times my roving bag has rolled down the bank. Good call.

For rucksacks I use ex British Army Bergen for Carp Fishing and an ex British Army Day Pack for Barbel Fishing. Both will be still be going strong long after I retire from fishing.

Thanks for everyone’s input. Ordered the Korum. I have an old transition larger bag which is excellent, hopefully this will be as good, Also like the lie flat opening.

Good call, Kevin. Must admit, although I love my Korda 45l, until yesterday* I've not fished in winter, or flood water conditions on a muddy and slippery bank before... but I can now see the appeal of the lie-flat, wipe-clean Korum bags.

* Got my second barbel, btw (I'm only a novice), about 8lbs.

Can any of you chaps who have got the 25l Korum Roversack tell me the dimensions of the main compartment? If I can get my Greys box in it I'll probably order one.

Anybody got any real life reviews of the little Korum Progress Roversack then? I like the look of it, but I seem to have developed a preference for clips instead of zips over time so would need to be persuaded to sack off my Drennan Super Speci rucksack. I get the lie-flat business; had a few close shaves with rolling rucksacks 😅😅😅
