Korum Omega rods

Korum gear used to be good when Dave Preston owned it originally ,but now it just breaks or falls apart I steer clear of it now . As for customer service good luck with that one .

I have the peregrine build 175 torrix. My favourite rod by far but I have a 4.0z spliced tip. Sounds sacrilege but brilliant for carp who pretend to be barbel! But this means I cannot really say how it handles at a ledger rod. I also have the 12' version and that too is magnificent imho and I have used that for surface/floater fishing too. Also with polaris ledger floats where it additionally excels.
 
My mind is definitely made up on a Torrix now, I don't think I'm going to find what I want from a off the shelf rod. I already know what custom build I want 😂

I think the closest I've seen and it's only based on overall weight of the rod (it could still balance awful) is the Free Spirit Barbel Tamers, the 11ft 2lb is meant to be 197g and the 12ft 1.75 at 208g. But I've read they are a bit poor.

11ft 2lb barbel tamer is a great rod for that price. But you won’t like it if you are after a fast action rod. It’s a true through action rod and bends to the butt. My only criticism of the rod is the slim handle.

I bought the 12ft 1.75lb, literally yesterday. I'm not sure in what respect they are considered poor and by whom, but it wouldn't suit you as it's a relatively soft rod.

I like soft rods; I used to fly fish with Winston rods, which the stockiest-bashers and Sage fanatics would describe as noodles... likewise, I would categorise their rods as broomsticks - personal taste, prejudice, whatever you want to call it. So to answer your previous comment, the place for through action rods these days is simply for those who prefer them to faster rods - although technically the through action rod is actually more powerful than a fast one. Anyway, I fished with the Barbel Tamer for a couple of hours today, attached to a Daiwa TDM 3012QD, targeting and landing a good chub. I like it, but I agree with Mr Zhu that the handle is very slim. If I keep it for long enough I might fit a new handle.

I can't understand the obsession with weight (or even balance) when, unlike a float rod, a ledgering/feeder rod will spend most of its life supported by a rest.

Hi Mark, a bit late to the party, I have a pair of the 1.75's, I used them on the Trent on Wednesday, they happily chucked a 3oz loaded feeder most of the way across using 12lb line. Hope that helps! Lost one at the net but that's not the rods fault!!

Bit late, look in less these days. Talk about rods always seems to drift back to HTs😆. Great rods I know, to address the original question, I bought two 1.5 Omegas for my spring lake fishing this year because I wanted more power through the middle sections (bit more tippy) to enable me to repeatedly chuck loaded 50g groundbait feeders 50 yards plus. They do this just fine, have well spaced rings and have a nice fish playing action, with a 23lb mirror the heaviest I’ve had on them so far. Been a while since I’ve fished for barbel, but I imagine the Omegas would handle them OK.
 
Took a chance on the 1.25 version, it's going straight back.

Tip heavy and not a action I would call fast.

I now have the Drennan Twin Tip Duo 11ft 1.5lb and it's so much better, lighter, better balanced even with no reel on, I'm super happy with it. I'm just going to add a lighter 2oz tip for the quiver section and it will do everything I'm looking for apart from Autumn barbel where the 1.75 rod will come out.
